I’d like to add an air fryer to my wedding registry. Who has recommendations? I was thinking around the $100 range?
Air fryer recommendations?
I have the NuWave Brio air fryer and I do like it allot and it does a great job.
However, most air fryers (like mine at 3.5 Quart) are on the smaller side and that is a pretty bad drawback for some.
It serves me just fine for making wings or chicken strips (the primary reason I bought it) but it really doesn’t do better than 3 to 4 chicken strips or about 6 wings at a time…so when the wife wants the same Its gonna take 2 cooking sessions.
I would have opted for a larger fryer, but I don’t have the counter space.
If I did have the space, I would have bought the larger more expensive (150-200 range) T-Fal Actifry.
It can do about 20+ wings and it turns them over frequently.
Here is a link of it in action:

Why not? I’m not interested in the maintenance involved in a deep fryer and it’s another great way to cook food.
This is exactly why I prefer it as well…I really am not a fan of the taste of the oil in some cases, and certainly not a fan of having hot oil with little ones around.
I suppose that you could just add fat or dip the foot in a fatty dressing or sauce after cooking in the air fryer. That would work.
The cost of the keto friendly oils to use in a traditional deep fryer, plus then straining and storing them, was prohibitive for me. I found that I can “instantly” air fry items and get them crispy unlike in my regular oven. While they are literally just small convection ovens, they do the job wonderfully. I have a Philips Avance XL and absolutely love how fast and crisp it makes cauliflower tots, zucchini fries, etc with minimal clean up.
I just got an airfryer and wow, do I love it. I got a cheap-o $40 one on sale at walmart to try out. I can only do 4 strips of bacon at a time since it is small, so I do that twice and then have 8 slices to keep on hand for snacking in the fridge. All of the oil can be saved to use for other cooking.
I LOVE putting in a big old steak and it is cooked perfectly in 12 minutes. So awesome after a hard day of work. Cauliflower also turned out great. I tossed it in some of the leftover bacon grease and then put it in the airfyer so it got a bit crispy. I also did keto chicken drumsticks with an almond-based coating. This one was a learning curve. I had to cook that for about 30 minutes because I put 8 in there. The less items you put in, the crispier things get but I wanted to do it in one batch. Next time, I’d do two separate batches of 4 drumsticks.
To clean, I can put both pieces straight into the dishwasher. So in love with not turning on my oven on 100 degree days, but still getting hot, “fried” foods!
A nice toaster oven will probably have more uses and produce superior results. One with convection.
