Advice for Newbie

(Penny) #1

Just started yesterday…really confused on what I should be doing. Not counting calories so much but eating only protein and fats, and 24 Grams of carbs per day. Please advise on anything else I should know. Getting straight forward information is really complicated as I don’t know anyone personally that is actually doing the Ketosis. Thanks for any help and advise for this newbie!

hello newbie @bella You need to go to the 2 keto dudes podcasts and start with episode 1 start there and look at all the newbie forums here. You can make this super hard by overthinking everything. For the most part you know whats bad right. Chips, crackers, junk food ya know that stuff. Eat smart, that is what I tell myself.
I have found that the 2 keto dudes podcast and this forum are my GROUNDING place.
I wish you the best! Judy

That’s really just about it. I am new myself (5 weeks), but I think it’s best to keep it simple, especially in the beginning. Further down the road, count calories if you want to. Tweak protein intake if you want to. Bake keto sweets if you want to. For me, my only goal is <20 carbs per day, and that’s it. It’s beautifully simple. I can improve and refine it later if I need to. One piece of advice I got when I started was to invest in some pink Himalayan salt, which has minerals that regular table salt has been stripped of. Put it on lots of things or eat a little out of your hand. Whenever I found myself feeling crummy during the first couple of weeks, pink salt and a big glass of water really helped.

You can check out this link, on the forum, and find tons of information for people just getting started on keto.

Eliminate all seed oils if you can, soybean oils, canola oil, sunflower oil, etc.

100% agree with your guidance… especially the podcasts tip. I listen to them during my daily cardio session. I was already approx 2 months into my Keto journey and listening to the guidance helps tremendously!

The 2 keto dudes podcasts are great and DietDoctor.com has some great visual carb content charts.
