Acetoacetate not dropping

ketones
acetoacetate

I have been in ketosis for 3 months, and started testing with keto sticks after about a week of keto. Initially the keto stick was showing the highest amount, now it dropped a level, but it still shows high. I would have expected to show trace amount by now as I already have all the symptoms of keto adaptation (no hunger, higher energy). My husband’s tests show trace amounts and he is doing keto for 6 months. Can someone speculate on what’s going on with acetoacetate levels?

give it more time. plus if using mct oil could increase as well.

I still routinely show Trace levels after 5 months. I don’t think I would worry about this at all. It doesn’t mean you are doing anything wrong and could just as easily mean you are slightly dehydrated when you test. These are good for the first few weeks to keep you motivated but I wouldn’t be concerned with the value on the stick at all.

I would expect trace levels because the body doesn’t use all ketones. But in my case the levels are still high (8) and trace would be 0.5. II was never at medium (4) or small (1.5) no matter how much water I drank. So I wonder if I am fat adapted or not.
