About to go on a major carb/calorie bender. Curious what to expect

I don’t mean to get off topic but I’ve seen several comments about whether this topic is allowed or not. Why would it not be? I have listened to most of the podcasts but am relatively new to the forums and want to understand the etiquette.

I don’t know either. I guess too many people don’t want cheating advice, but in my humble opinion, that is life. Especially if people are calling keto a lifestyle. There are bound to be slip ups, and it’s helpful to know how to rebound, rather than just get discouraged. I initially tried to post this as a post, and they denied it.

So to answer my own question, here’s how it ended up for me…

In one and a half days I gained over 7lbs. That surprised me…I thought maybe it would be a couple of pounds but it was much worse. It took me 4 days to get back into ketosis and 5 days to get to the same level I was at before I left (based on keto strips, I know they’re not the most accurate).

I finally lost all of the weight I gained after a week. So I thought I would get back into ketosis sooner and I thought I’d lose the weight more quickly.

I also experienced muscle issues…back pain and tingling/numbness in my arms, like I would get back in the days when I used to lift weights a lot. Just a theory but I suspect this was due to inflammation cased by the carb intake. It started to go away right around the time my ketosis started really kicking back in and it’s mostly gone now.

I don’t have any regrets and I would do it again but no more than once a year…more than that is just not worth it for me. It does take willpower to come back home and start eating super clean again so this is definitely not for everybody,

I have had this same issue with beer. At times I do not even like the first sip, but my mouth is drawn to that pint and the one that follows and the next one :-/
