A new drink?!

#1

My health conscious cousin informed me of this new drink she found called “Truly”. It comes in a variety of flavors and looks like one wouldn’t hurt.
Below is a picture. I’d love any input/thoughts/etc!

100 calories for entire can, it has only one gram net carb, and zero grams both fat and protein. One gram carb is 4 calories, so I guess 96 calories from alcohol?? The “other” macronutrient??

(Steak and iron) #3

Yes precisely. Alcohol has about 7.5 calories per gram. 96 calories of alcohol is about 13 grams of alcohol total. That lines up with what the alcohol content on the can is.

Is that good or bad?

(Steak and iron) #5

What does good or bad mean? It’s alcohol. It’s literally a toxin.

#6

Ahh, the dose makes the poison ya? Hormesis baby!!

(Stickin' with mammoth) #7

I looked it up. “Spiked Sparkling” is Latin for “too lazy to open a bottle of club soda and tip it into my booze by myself.”

#8

Good or bad as in “will this throw me out of Ketosis if I drink one”

(Steak and iron) #9

Your body will stop ketone production while it deals with the alcohol. It won’t go back into glycolysis like you do with carbs but understand any alcohol production will slow your progress down.

Compared to a beer or mixed drink though? This looks much better.
