A must-read paper on animal-source foods and human development/gut morphology

I probably made it sound more boring than it is, but this is a faaaaaaaaaaaantastic paper, especially to combat those who feel that we aren’t meant to eat meat.

Certainly reinforces the concept of mostly ZC eating, with occasional or seasonal food from flora.

That’s funny. I hold Katharine Milton in my mind as a plant fiber sentimentalist, in part due to her conclusions in her 1999 paper: https://nature.berkeley.edu/miltonlab/pdfs/nutritionalchar.pdf, but she spells out her opinions more explicitly in this SciAm piece, which I obviously disagree with:

Her personal opinions I’m not so fond of, but I do like the above paper.

Oh yes, of course!

Also, in general, the discussion sections of papers are often irrelevant, even when the actual meat of the paper is exceptionally important evidence. Some of my favourite papers are framed in a way I consider ridiculous, but it doesn’t lessen the importance of the work.
