A Milestone For Me - <100 mg/dL fasting BG reading

(James Jeffers) #1

After a year in the IDM program I finally did it - this morning marks the first time since I was diagnosed with TDM2 (in 2011) I hit 94 mg/dL. I’ve had periodic lows below 100 mg/dL, but never a fasting (early am) reading. I’m very happy with this.

For along time it seemed like I was the only person not seeing progress with the fasting etc. But it’s finally paying off.

Or as they say, “Keep calm and keto on.”

What was your last A1c ?

James, congrats on the progress!

Common wisdom is that diabetes is a progressive disease though more and more of us are providing examples to the contrary. Myself I never quite made it to full blown diabetes, my worst fasting blood glucose was only about 120 with >125 being what most consider the threshhold for T2DM. But in less than 2 years my fasting blood glucose is now mostly in the range of 70 to 85. Just 6 months ago it was still in the 90-100 range.

I think my dietary changes had the biggest impact but other efforts to exercise more, reduce stress, sleep better, fast & lose weight, etc. have each played a part. Perhaps the most important thing was learning that this is something I have control over and by tracking it and seeing progress I’ve been motivated to keep going. Since you are going farther your journey takes longer but it should continue being rewarding.

A1C scores started the year at 8.0, and the latest one, on December 12, was 6.5%.
