So I’ve been keto for a while. Feeling good, losing fat and body changing also been 24hr fasting and omad. I weight train a lot and always train fasted then consume my meal within 1 hour of finishing in the gym. All’s been working great until today. I trained and then consumed some almonds to start with then some fresh chicken thighs, kale, olive oil , cauliflower and finished with a rib eye steak with some butter, which is pretty much what I eat most of the time with no issues. About 4/5 hours later I had a seriously watery stool, I mean, it was pretty bad. Now I’m not sure if I’ve just wasted all the calories and more importantly for me all the protein I’ve consumed today. The chicken was completely fresh and thoroughly cooked and I’ve got no stomach ache or sickness. I have been a bit constipated over the last few days and only passing tiny stools (due to me being lazy and skipping the veggies). Surely I haven’t just pooped out what i just ate have i?
A Bit Of A Gross Issue
For me, and it’s happened several times over the years, it would indicate too much protein and not enough fat. It usually happens when I go wild on the lean Roast Beef.
Thanks Ken, not sure it’s that though . I keep my macros the same all the time and it hasn’t happened before. Just wondered that it might be because I haven’t been properly for a couple of days
Hi there, for myself I was consuming 75% fat and 20% protein with 5% carb consistently for my first week and what you described happened to me more than a few times during that first week. By week two I started using more butter than olive oil / avocado oil and it stopped occurring. I’ve read elsewhere that high amount of oil can cause watery stool and just making an assumption that the replacement of butter for oil is what helped me.
The worst day I had consume 1.5 cups of oil. It was a terrible bathroom day!
Sounds similar - Veggies and the aches
Check out the video as well, it’s very interesting
This happened to me this morning! Mostly water!
I started back at the gym this week after only treadmill walking often because I moved 2 weeks ago. I have been eating good quality deli roast beef this week, too!! Now today I am starving…been craving fat!! Cream, cream cheese, coconut oil…cant seem to get full. Maybe it has something to do with the roast beef? I know this sounds strange, but on the days I go to the gym, I’m less hungry!
Any advise is appreciated!!
Thanks!!
I just chalk it up to life generally. I mean I occasionally had unexplained loose stools or constipation before I was keto, so I’m unconvinced an occasional weird bathroom day is about macronutrient profile or even a specific food I ate.
I must be a odd ball but I poop 3 times in morning.no matter what I drink or eat or ate night before. And sometimes I’ll go in evening.usually 3 or 4th time are watery like today I went 5 times.my butt hurt lemme tell ya
Chicken can have salmonella etc. even when fresh, it’s just an infection it picks up. Make sure of kitchen hygeine and thorough cooking of chicken.
Alternatively perhaps you need more acid to help you digest the fats. Squeeze lemon or lime on your food or in your water. Try apple cider vinegar.
Thank you, I always sip diluted apple cider vinegar as I eat and usually add some to my food as well
What I was more concerned about was losing the calories and nutrients I’d consumed 4 hours prior. Can your body transit food that quickly?
No one has mentioned but lack of sodium in your system will cause dietary problems. Add some salt intake and see what happens.
My friend recommend’s 1 cup stock of whatever flavor a day or 1 tsp salt in cup of water.
I don’t take any magnesium. I usually have about 2 1/2 teaspoons of Himalayan salt everyday and drink about 3 or 4 litres of water
