9 meals a day for diabetes!

Effect of Short-Term Increase in Meal Frequency on Glucose Metabolism in Individuals with Normal Glucose Tolerance or Impaired Fasting Glucose: A Randomized Crossover Clinical Trial

Daytime maximum blood glucose, glucose range, duration of glucose ≥180 mg/dL, and nighttime maximum glucose were significantly lower in the NGT/9M condition than in the NGT/3M condition. Similar findings were observed in the IFG subjects, with a lower daytime and nighttime maximum glucose and glucose range, and a significantly higher daytime minimum glucose in the 9M condition than in the 3M condition.

Note, NGT stands for normal glucose tolerance and these nutters are pleased that eating 9 meals a day reduces the amount of time NGTs spend with glucose above 180 mg/dl…

From the Abstract:
Higher meal frequency may increase glucagon-like peptide 1 secretion and improve insulin secretion.

I think that’s a good thing to know and to follow up to see if others can replicate it. This is real science, a randomized clinical trial. Also, interesting this is out of Japan. I doubt the Ancel Keys Dietary Guidelines are as chiseled in stone there as elsewhere.

I doubt improved insulin secretion is desirable in the context of hyperinsulinemia…

Yikes! This is mind-boggling. :scream:

And here people on these forums get upset when their serum glucose rises above 90!
