Costco!!! I’m there once or twice a week… I’m in NJ - where are you?

(LeeAnn Brooks) #22

Michigan. I would ask the meat manager. It’s not listed even on our member posting for case prices, so it would have to be a special order.
I’m not sure if it’s something they all would be able to get everywhere, and perhaps it was offered to me because I’m an employee there. At least I know it’s not something we market.

I’m eating my 70/30 plastic tube meat right now!
I browned up 3 lbs of it with some great seasonings.

SO GOOD!!!

@Anniegirl9 are you in western nc?

#25

Costco? I’m not a member yet, but could you tell the management that customers are complaining that they don’t import African Yak meat from Nepal, and maybe I’ll get a membership? Oh wait, memberships cost money, what a ripoff.

(LeeAnn Brooks) #26

No, Michigan.
Kalamazoo area.

(Marta Loftfield) #27

@Anniegirl9 dang, I love to use chicken skin and feet in bone broth. Would have split that case with you!

(LeeAnn Brooks) #28

Funny.
I will get right on that suggestion.

Aldi’s sells 73/27. At least in my area, and it’s fresh. I use it to make “Juicy Lucy” burgers stuffed with cheese and chopped scallions. Wrapped in bacon of course.

You all would be surprised how fast a case of chicken skin goes. It’s the bacon of the poultry world.

(Teresa (turtle)) #30

I believe that those plastic tubes are referred to as “CHUBS”!

(Ashley) #31

If you have an Aldis they do 70/30 in their black packages meats.

#32

In my experience, the skin gets caught in the blades of the grinder. It takes ages picking it out, so before you try that, maybe…don’t.

How about just adding chicken neck fat? When you get a whole chicken, there are large knobs of fat at the neck. If you can’t use that, buy some schmaltz, or use duck fat. Yum!

I bought ground beef (mince) from US Wellness Meats in 55/45. They also sell some with ground beef heart added in.

(LeeAnn Brooks) #34

Yes, we have Aldi’s. Good to know.

(Ashley) #35

NP, around my area (Michigan so may differ) it’s about $2 a pound for 70/30 and they do 5lb packages.

(Lonnie Hedley) #36

I can only find 73/27 at Kroger and Meijer. Better than 90/10, but would love some 70/30 tubes.

(Ashley) #37

If you have Aldis, I’d recommend trying there.

(Lonnie Hedley) #38

How many lbs? I buy 3-5 lb tubes at a time.

(Ashley) #39

I get 70/30, 5lb packages for $10 at Aldis

(Lonnie Hedley) #40

There is one right by my office. Good to know, thanks.
