7+ weeks and im not making progress

#1

Ill give it all 12 weeks like I told myself but I’m not seeing any progress. Nothing has changed weight wise, no inches lost. Ive tweaked this thing every which way… the one constant is literally almost zero carbs the whole duration. This sucks

Have you added intermittent fasting? 18+ hours daily fasting may be what’s missing, so your insulin can go down and you can burn your fat.

(Wendy) #3

Are you getting enough sleep? That’s important too.

#4

I’m doing OMAD so am actually fasting like 23 hours a day

#5

I sleep too much actually. Since starting keto I sleep soo good

(Donna ) #6

OMAD consistently over time can cause stalling because your body lowers is BMR. Can you mix it up? Maybe do a longer fast once a week, 36+ hours, and throw in a two meal day so your not all the time OMAD?

Also, when you eat, EAT. Feast and fast.

Thanks, Donna. I think this is all just too much conflicting information for me. Honestly, I wasnt looking for something this difficult. I only have 30 pounds to lose and I’m more frustrated and unhappy than before I started keto. Thank you to everyone for all the support. Im going to have to decide pretty quick what to do, maybe go back to my doctor and see if she can help me sort all this out.

So you’re eating one meal a day. What does that meal look like in numbers? (protein grams, fat grans, carbs, that stuff) Are you using a calculator of some kind to figure out about what you think you should be consuming?

Basically, I’m wondering if you’re getting enough to eat? I know it sounds counter-intuitive but eating too little can be a problem in the body trying to lower it’s BMR. Maybe your body thinks you’re starving and it’s hanging on to every bit of fat it can.

Wow, what are you eating all day to total only 2 grams of carbs?

A sample menu, maybe 3 days?, would be helpful - if you want help tweaking it.

(Lonnie Hedley) #11

From another post she started.

It’s possible she’s trying too much too fast.

#12

I never get many carbs… like the whole 7 weeks ive averaged about 6 or 7… Well, I’m feeling like I gave this 120%… keto must not agree with me. Everyone on here rocks! You guys have really been inspirational.

Oh, you’re trying carnivore and today is maybe Day 5 or 6? Too soon to judge anything. That’s a different ball of wax.

Carnivore doesn’t have to be OMAD and don’t chart your macros. Just eat fatty meat. Starting out on carnivore, you should probably just eat meat often, until your body adjusts and don’t try to do OMAD.

Bullet proof coffee should go. Don’t drink your fat. Eat meat. Eat fatty meat. Eat it often until you get through the adaptation phase (which could take a few weeks.)

I was Keto for 7 months before going carnivore and I had several days of feeling funky, really tired. I didn’t start losing weight until after 3 1/2 weeks.

Hang in there.

I love this “oh, there’s more to the story” response. ALL THE LIKES!!! :joy::rofl:

I am going to go against the grain of most people here and ask this, how many calories are you eating a day?

You have 7 weeks of eating and you are not losing weight. That is a stall.

Start tracking your cals and macros. Adjust it back if not losing and track again. 3500 calorie defict weekly will net you a pound a week loss.

I have my flame suit well buttoned up for all those to jump on me, but if you are not losing weight after 7 weeks of “dieting” and purposely trying to lose weight you need to dial in your nutrition much better and eat less.

Except that we just learned that she is trying to adapt to zero carb/carnivore way of eating. That is entirely different, “Eat fatty meat until full, drink water when thirsty. That’s it”.

(shane ) #17

Qty 2, 10 Oz Ribeyes a day at 825 calories each = 1650 calories
Qty 2 Table spoons of butter per day = 250 calories
Qty 1 Table Spoon MCT oil per day = 125 calories
QTY 2 Eggs per day = 150 calories
Total calories = 2175
You don’t burn at least 500 cals more than that daily everyday per week and you don’t lose a pound per week.

Even on carnivore you can track cals.

Having a baseline and understanding where your metabolism is right now is a good place to at least start. Especially for someone who is not losing for an extended period of time.

Why are you eating more protein than fat?
Fat should be your highest macro, those numbers need to switch around IMO.

(Lonnie Hedley) #20

You’re confusing carnivore and Keto. Macros don’t matter on carnivore. Eat meat until full. That means you’re likely eating a lot more protein than your Keto macro would suggest.
