6 months into this journey

And been reading through similar posts. I find that I need to shake things up due to a 3+ week stall currently. My stall started after an extended fast and now I am nervous about how to recalibrate. I lost 7 pounds after a 120 hr EF, and then gained 5 back over 2 weeks. I am now vacilating between a 2 pound flex that won’t budge regardless of 18:6 IFs and 24 -48 hr fasts, which had helped previously. I feel like that EF broke my keto lol.

I eat LCHF and mindful not to over do either fat or protein. Even now as I write this, my stomach is growling like i haven’t eaten in a month :frowning: I am fat adapted but maybe saying WAS is more true. Just feeling lost… Thoughts?

If you’re hungry you should eat. Appetites wax & wane, weight goes down/up/stalls - none of this necessarily means you’re doing anything wrong other than not giving yourself a break :slightly_smiling_face:

@stokiesgoneketo, I would suggest start eating regularly, whether that’s one, two or three meals a day, and in the words of my great mate from Down Under, @juice, “Track Everything”!

Start tracking all your food, so you can see what macros your really hitting. As you experiment with your meals, this should help you determine what food your eating could be causing your stall.

It could be as simple as fasting doesn’t work for you the way it did before you lost so much weight, and now it’s time to mix it up to find something that will help you loose the rest.

You can use the online tool, Cronometer, to help track your food. As @juice also says, “Anything else is just guessing”.

Good luck, and let us know how your progress goes.

@dlc96_darren Hi there! I do track daily and hit my macros consistently… the timing of it lining up with that longest fast for me I think may have spooked me… I am just hoping it is my body healing, right? Just wondering if any one else had a similar experience of that sort of derailment post EF.

Thanks for reading me!

@anon54735292 Thanks! Guess just got used to losing steadily lol… but it was never a straight line. But this near month stall shook my faith a bit…

Appreciate the kind words so ty!

No worries. FWIW I think you’re supposed to eat more after an extended fast anyway - Megan Ramos is all about fasting and feasting.

Female hormones can also throw a spanner in the works for both appetite and weight fluctuations but that’s a whole other story!

@anon54735292 No kidding lol. Oh the ‘joy’ hahaha

If you do a search for stall, or broke my stall, you might find some advice where others have broken their stall.

I remember someone saying the only thing that managed to help was eating in an exact eating window everyday, and not breaking that with snacking or anything else.

Try this: https://goo.gl/UDccjD

Hope this helps!

@dlc96_darren Yup been looking through it with those exact search terms  I do a precise window, but wondering if post loss, need to switch it up with my feasting and window times. All things to sort through. So many variable - just gotta be patient as I wade through it… Thanks so much!

I never eat breakfast but today by 9 am I was hungry. I assume it was my hormones but there was no attempt to discover the whys or wherefores - I just ate the damn chicken

True, that!

It’s never been anywhere near a straight line for me though, sounds like you are being ultra hard on yourself which may well be exacerbating things a bit?

(Hyperbole- best thing in the universe!) #14

A 2 lb loss from a 5 day fast isn’t terrible. You only lose .5 lb a day of fat during fasting, the rest is water weight and any protein loss. You gain back the water and rebuild shiney new muscle when you refeed.

(Joanna Parszyk ) #15

Can l ask for your height, starting weight, current weight?
Sometimes the goal weight is just a number on a scale that isn’t necessarily good for you. Also the last pounds to loose are very stubborn.

Removing dairy and sweeteners can do the trick.
If you are lacking sleep and having a lot of stress might be the reason for stall.

Just my 2 cents

(Carolyn aka stokies) #16

@Chipmunk. I am 5’4". Starting weight 289. Current 229/230. I am very much an 8 hr+ person for sleep or scales don’t budge. I don’t use sweeteners and dairy is nominal. I am wondering if stress and sadness are contributing too. Anniversary of losing my parents was when i did the 5 day fast. I dunno. Thanks for reading though

I don’t classify 3 weeks as a stall even though I know it must be super frustrating…

60 pounds in 6 months is AMAZING!

You have gotten some great advice on this thread so just here to support you and cheer you on. KCKO!

Maybe your body is adjusting to new weight?
Weight loss for as ladies is sometimes tricky.
It sucks that hare not able for now to see those results that keep your motivation on but just be patient.
Maybe to mix things up introduce some brisk walking? Just for other health benefits and stress reduction rather than supporting idea of “burning calories”. No need to go to the gym if you do not like to. Just some extra help to address this stress issue.

KCKO

Oh and take measurements. My body is still slowly shrinking even though I at my maintenance weight and only lost a few lbs from fasting.

I know it makes no sense to lose inches and not pounds but it is very common! The scale weighs everything - what you ate yesterday, how much fluid you are retaining, etc.

I was in a stall a while ago when i had too much work to do. I was very stressed all week, so i couldn’t sleep at night, but i still ate strictly keto and worked out as much as i could, but the results on the scale were 2 pounds higher than the last week. I guess that stress could be the problem in your case too.
Every person can sometimes find himself in a stressful situation or have bad day, but we get over it (if it isn’t some kind of mental illness like depression or something). Don’t get discouraged, KCKO, try to work on yourself (maybe starting with meditation to calm yourself) and you’ll start seeing results again
