What about a different meter? It seems odd that you are getting those numbers…
How long have you been eating keto before you started fasting?
Is this your first long fast? Have you done other fasts?
Any other data points to compare to?

Welcome to the forum Aaron.
Have you checked the carton of cream to make sure that it is 0 carbs? (as @amwassil has suggested above). The cream if it has no carbs should be fine. (I just checked my own to make sure and it says 0 carbs on it).
Show me the label. A couple things occurred to me. One, possibly some ingredient of the cream is causing your metabolism to react; what’s in the list of ingredients? Let’s see that. Second, are you sure about the quantity? Not guessing, but using a real measuring tablespoon.
Again. To test if the cream is the problem, drink black coffee for a few days.
Buy the urine test strips like @PrimalBrian suggests to test your meter/test strips. Walmart sells urine test strips very cheap.
Yeah, but companies are allow to list as 0 if it’s less than 0.5g or something like that.
I feel awesome and I’ve been low-carb/keto for a few years. I have periods of time (a day or two, now and then) when I “feast” and eat whatever I want and then go back to keto, IF, and some prolonged fasting like now.
I don’t have time to look this up as I’m running out but my memory is that if it’s 0.0 to 0.5 it can say “0,” if it’s .6 to .9 it can say “less than 1,” so his cream likely has .6-.9g carbs. If we assume it’s .9, we’re talking 8 grams of carbs per day. Certainly low enough for ketosis…
I suppose we could think of this as the last resort explanation.
Then I’d conclude your meter is wonky. For peace of mind, I’d do the purple pee sticks. If those were clear/trace, I’d come back to scratching my head here.
Agreed. Even 6 days in a fast I’d think he should be (well) above .1, which is the KetoMojo’s threshhold for Lo.
Yeah, the cream I buy has nothing in it except cream. I never buy cream that has anything in it - not even carrageenan. I’m having a hard time believing that eating nothing for 6 days besides heavy cream is keeping me out of ketosis. I’ve been in ketosis previously while eating a typical ketogenic diet.
100% agree. The fact that you know about the tricky carageenan suggests to me 100% you know what you’re doing here. Again, I suspect it’s the meter…
We’re grasping at straws here for some explanation. Please give me a label or at least the brand and name of the cream so I can look it up. I want to put that to rest.
I took some pictures of the labels:

Thanks very much. If you’re consuming less than 20-30 tablespoons (300-450ml) of it per day as your sole nutrient, the cream doesn’t seem to be an issue. Although, I would count it as 1 gram carbs per 1 tbsp (15 ml). If the label is 100% truthful it looks like nice stuff, indeed. I would still go with black coffee for a few days to confirm. Have you ever had any problems with dairy?
So by process of elimination your Keto Mojo is either not calibrated correctly or buggered and/or the test strips are old or defective. If urine test strips show color that would confirm you have a problem with the Keto Mojo and/or test strips. If urine test strps do not show color, that would neither confirm nor rule out a Keto Mojo problem. The reason: urine test strips show acetoacetate but once fat adapted not for everyone and not necessarily reliably. But if you have acetoacetate, then you have to have β-hydroxybutyrate as well. But if the urine strips show no color, you could still have acetoacetate and β-hydroxybutyrate.
This doesn’t seem likely Michael, even if he was drinking a quart of cream he would be low enough in carbs to be in ketosis. Sorry, too fast for me.
