5 weeks in... 20 pounds down

Hello!! Just want you all to know that I’m so thankful for sites like this where us newbies can ask so many questions and get so much advice! I really appreciate all who respond

So this is my 5th week eating keto. I lost 16 lbs in the first 3 weeks and another 4 lbs in these last 2 weeks for a total weight loss of 20 lbs since I started this lifestyle change on July 30th. My ketone levels were off the chart (160) when I was put on Metformin 2 weeks ago for PCOS and I believe that is why I only lost 4 lbs but could be wrong? I stopped taking the Metformin and finally got my ketones back to a shade between 15 and 40 which I’ve read is “optimal ketosis” and where I need to be for good weight loss. Although the scale shows a 20 lb loss, I don’t see it yet. Could it be water weight that I am loosing?

@Nina3 Excellent progress! Keep up the great work. :+1:

How are you measuring? Sounds like pee sticks and if so, scrap them as they’re useless for measuring ketosis.

It’s a process, not an instant success. Judge by how you feel and use physical measurements rather than weighing.

Excellent advise, Allie!

@Shortstuff pee sticks it is LOL! I feel great to be honest… have lots of energy and I so feel a little lighter but not really seeing where the weight loss has left. I know I have a long road ahead and I won’t wake up tomorrow morning skinny. Was just curious to know if perhaps I was loosing water weight… but thanks for your knowledge!
