5 Minute Lazy Meals (can be KETO - not just Carnivore)

What is your go-to ‘I have exactly 5 minutes and zero energy to cook’ meal that still keeps you on track?

Typically leftovers are a great option, but let’s imagine, you walk in on a Wednesday afternoon with a blank slate - what do you go with?

(If it takes longer than five minutes that’s okay, just means you’re heroic under pressure  )

I have frozen broth cubes I can microwave and add salt, or I microwave an egg and maybe toss some cheese on it. :+1:

I put in my first order to a local farm to pick up eggs on Thursday. I’m really excited…unless they taste like fish. I live in an area where they fish Salmon, Halibut, Rock Fish, Sturgeon (sport fishing only) and they crab and dig clams. Sometimes scraps are fed to hens and the eggs are incredibly fishy tasting. But - with any luck, they’ll be decent! I also ordered a half dozen duck eggs to try.

I do tuna with mayo, melt mozzarella slices in the oven for just a few minutes, put the tuna on top & fold mozzarella over, bake for a few more minutes, I have it with salad… slightly longer than 5 minutes, but probably only 10!
But having read about you not liking fishy tasting eggs, maybe you don’t like tuna, so you could put ham or pepperoni etc instead!

Chuck steak from the freezer. Or really any cut I can sear and eat. I thaw streak about half in the microwave, salt, and use the mechanical tenderizer to work the salt in while the sizzle platter heats up (oven, air fryer or grill).

This tenderizes a tougher cut and finishes the thaw. When the sizzle platter is rocking hot, I put the steak on. 2-3 minutes per side. Let the steak sit on the cutting board a couple of minutes, slice across the grain and plate up. Since I’m high fat I can adjust my lean to fat ratio by taking hubby’s fat and everyone gets their preferred doneness.

My other go to is cooked from frozen ground beef patties. Aldi’s Smashed Burger patties or ones from my butcher.

Protein shake and a handful of nuts. Takes about 30 seconds and gets the job done when I have absolutely no motivation to cook.

We do have fresh Tuna locally and it’s amazing. It’s white and sweet, kinda like chicken cooked up - that firm white texture. (Battered and fried is best - but now I’m forgoing the batter! haha)

The local tribe had some smoked Salmon at an event a couple of weeks ago and it was mind blowing. It was so delicious. I’ve had commercial smoke salmon and I couldn’t eat it, thought it tasted of chemicals and fishiness. So I guess it depends on the fish and the prep.

In grade school we were taught that people who really taste “fishy” it’s genetic, and some people don’t get that strong funk flavor. But being that was back in 1984, and my Oklahoma grade school education has proven to be unreliable, haha, I don’t know if that’s true. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: I could never eat seaweed or sea vegetables either.

I wonder if it’s like cilantro, where some people taste soap, but many people (like me) do not?

I usually cook a lot of meat, so I just have leftovers. For instance, leg of lamb tonight. We cooked a relatively large leg for only my wife and me.

I will also eat liverwurst and cheese with mustard, though this is more as additional food rather than a meal.
