5 Day Egg Fast results!

(Marshelle) #1

I am ending Day 1 in transition back to keto from the five day Egg Fast!
SW 163 CW 157.2
I lost 5.8 lbs and learned a few things too!

  1. The Egg Fast definitely ended my stall.
  2. I cannot eat dairy–it stalls me, so the recipes that used cream cheese I substituted mayo and it worked great!!!
  3. I did not drink the BPT and still had lots of energy. I did 6 mi. intervals daily.
  4. I tried new recipes, snickerdoodle egg crepes (phenomenal) and oopsie bread (heavenly)!
  5. I got keto rash AGAIN!! :scream:This cannot be! What the bird flu is happening? Oh well, KCKO.
Finally… Success in much of keto and Egg Fast is contingent upon how diligent I am in following the instructions and sticking to the process. There were so many people doing the Fast (at least they were saying that in the fb group) but they were trying to substitute, add to, revise… the process. We were already doing the Fast because we were stalled on keto or LCHF. One would think that we were willing to conform for the results we were seeking. smh

Great job! You look terrific!

That was great. However today, I am on my 4th day of an egg fast and I intend to keep it up till the end of 5th day, that’s tomorrow. Observation: I had gained about 5 pounds over the past 4 months and with the egg fast, I was hoping to go back to my original weight but I did not loose any weight.

What could have gone wrong?

On the fast, do you eat as many eggs as you want? What else can you eat?

Interesting to read the results. I’ve never tried an egg fast. I do eat a lot of eggs, though, and they are sometimes a major part of my eating for a day.

The egg fast is mostly eggs and cream cheese and some other fat, there are specific rules. It is totally horrible if anyone asks me but it seems to work for many people.
I love eggs (I used to eat more than the amount people normally do on an egg fast) but the egg fast made me super nauseous (it’s insanely fatty and while I love fat, not in that ratio. well I can do fat fast, that’s 90% fat and it’s great but I can eat meats there and the protein is minimal and it seems to make all the difference) and after 9 hours (I don’t normally force a diet on myself but I heroically and curiously did it for that long) I had to eat sugar to feel alive again. BUT if it’s good for someone, great! I don’t even understand why I handle it SO bad, the food seems good though too fatty. I don’t like my eggs that fatty, just my meat, occasionally…
No idea how anyone can lose fat with it - except the ones who barely eat… But the human body doesn’t function the same in individual cases…

Thanks for this topic, I have found some interesting recipes I may try soon  Egg fast recipes sound good to me as I love the ingredients, I just want my meat and other things every day too

Well done, you look fab!
I don’t think I could do that…

My favorite way of eating eggs… I had a couple of 'em last night, over easy… on top of a half pound hamburger patty.

I have to wonder if a person couldn’t do just as well with something super clean such as beef, eggs, and maybe butter. Or a BBBE stint, very strictly. I kinda suspect it’s the other stuff that gets added in that is the problem and an “egg fast” requires a level of strictness that often doesn’t continue to be maintained over time.

I suspect it’s Always the other stuff! I imagine the egg diet is like most single-food fad diets, the primary reason it works is because you get so sick of the eggs or the grapefruit or the cabbage soup or the bacon or the maple syrup with cayenne and olive oil (akkk) that you stop eating.

When it was Lent, I tried eating fish at lunch. It did not fill me. I then tried eating eggs, and found I was a lot more satisfied.

I was exercising on Fridays, otherwise I would’ve fasted.

It’s the fat for me, I can’t possibly eat too many eggs on an egg fast! (I could easily eat 12 on any day, probably, it’s very rare but easy when I am in the mood. well it’s not just eggs then but even eggs alone, it’s not so much if I cook them differently)… My average was 7 eggs at least for a decade and it wasn’t much less before and after.
I agree, one or two kind of food and even I wouldn’t overeat. But I would get bored so much and quit… I need variation.
It’s good to avoid many things but let me keep my meat, eggs, little dairy, tiny extras and I can do it for a long time (unless something too tempting appears without me staying determined).
Egg fast just sounds unnecessarily restrictive for me. And I bet I would lose nothing unless I just stopped eating for days. All that fat… I never lose fat if I eat a lot of fat. And always when I don’t but I am still working on realizing that…

At least eggs and cream cheese and fat is satiating (even if nauseating). Cabbage soup only fills my stomach, it does nothing to my hunger (or rather it increases it). Well I don’t eat it anymore, I used to love it but carnivore came and most plants belongs to the past now.

I did 10 eggs per day (boiled, fried or baked), with butter and cheese. I loved it but the fast did not benefit me.
