4 weeks in!

Awesome forum, thought I would share some of my story so far. I’ve just reached 4 weeks on keto. I’m a 5’7", 45 yo woman. I did keto 3 years ago for 12 months, lost 33lb but most importantly saw huge health benefits. Fell off the wagon though, so now I’m trying again. At day one I was 160lb, so not too heavy. Today i’m 149lb, absolutely shocked at how much I’ve lost, it’s been slow but steady. That’s fantastic, but there’s other great effects too:

  • my daily chronic hayfever and sinus is almost gone,
  • my skin rashes & itching is almost gone
  • my headaches are much improved
  • my skin is glowing
  • no more sugar crash dizziness, shakes & nausea
  • I’m not as tired & don’t need naps

I’m still not fully fat adapted and feel a bit weak when exercising, but I know that will happen in time. All up, I’m rapt with my results and hope everyone who is starting out can stick with it and get some amazing benefits too :grinning:

Well done! Those results are fantastic for 4 weeks, sounds like your body really thrives on keto :+1:

It really does seem to love it. I’ve been struggling with inflamation, which is improving slowly too. The anti-inflammatory benefits of keto were one of the main drivers for starting again. Can’t wait to see how i feel in another few months!!

It’s often suggested to go easy on the exercise during the first month or so. As our body is still figuring out how to efficiently use fat for fuel, some sputtering is to be expected. After you become fat adapted, you will probably find that exercise and recovery are easier.

Congrats on your NSVs.

Thanks CarlKeller, I can certainly agree with you. I’ve been trying to listen to my body and have stopped weights for the time being. Just doing some light cardio and walking when I feel up to it. No point putting my body under more stress than it’s already going through.

Congrats! I’m allergic to cats and right after starting keto I took in a cat to rehab and amazingly I didn’t have asthma attacks or swollen eyes. He’s in a new home now with some feline friends to play with but I truly think keto kept my allergies at zero with him around.

Keep up the good job!

Welcome! I agree with you. I was diagnosed with degenerative disk in my C spine. Moderate but no surgery options. The chronic inflammation in my body was attacking my disks and joints so I figured keto would help. I have been feeling much better now. Losing weight is a bonus.

So glad it’s working for you. Back pain is totally debilitating. I’m sure the inflammation was causing my joint pain, swollen legs & knees, and also my hayfever. Years of tests showed I’m not allergic to anything, yet if I eat inflammatory food I get symptoms almost immediately. Just needed to do keto to work that out…wish I knew about it 40 years ago!!!

And you’re not the only one!

Welcome back to keto! Sounds as though you are already doing well. May you continue to see many more improvements. :+1:

Before keto/low carb, I was taking two 24-hour allergy tablets per day. After 5 years of low carb (most of it probably keto), I have taken one pill per year the last several years, and those I probably did not have to take.

Makes me frustrated with all the doctors and specialists I saw. ALL of them told me I didn’t have a food intolletance, even though I showed negative to all airborne allergens. They suggested cutting out dairy, which I tried unsuccessfully, but never said to try cutting out sugar. So many illnesses and disorders are probably sugar/carb based and the traditional medical society aren’t listening to the evidence. I hope really this changes soon. Rant over, lol

Sugar is healthy for you—just ask Coca-Cola!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
