Dear Keto friends,
I’m counting three months of strict ketogenic diet ( 20 g of carbs) and don‘t feel any different…l am close to giving up, but maybe you have some arguments for me to go on trying? I‘ve started it because of my f‘ing Long Covid which gives me a very low energy and zero physical strength. I was hoping to see some result after three months of keto but there is none, l am sorry…now it is hard to do something strict if you don‘t feel the benefits of it, on the other hand if l gave up l would certainly feel like a failure. So l dunno what to do…anybody here who had to wait longer then 3 months to feel a difference?
Thanks, have a great day!
3 months strict keto
So, what do you eat on a typical day? I have eaten 2 meals most of my life too.
I just want to make sure your body isn’t in starvation mode, because that will ruin it all.
I don’t feel a failure if I stop something that doesn’t work. I usually give it up after 1-2 days though If it feels bad, I mean but not seeing results wear me down too.
Keto can be done in zillion ways. Maybe yours isn’t good enough for you. Or you never will get energy from keto just like me.
Apart from fat adaptation, I got no benefit until I tried out carnivore. It turned out my old keto wasn’t good enough for me and I get positive changes at some carb limits (it’s not so simple though) but not when I am around my ketosis carb limit. So my low-carb -> keto change was just some extra hardship but I didn’t see benefits.
Now I strongly suspect plant carbs mess with me. I may eat plenty of animal carbs, it’s fine. But not much from plants.
While some others feel bad on carnivore and are fine with a bunch of vegs.
There are plenty of items people experience problems with and when they avoid them, things get way better. Dairy, sweeteners, surely many other things…
I can’t possibly know what keeps you from seeing benefits or even if it’s woe related or it’s something else, stress, sleep, disease, personal curse (I have lowish energy all the time - not sooo horrible but I would like more - and I get tired out too easily. I do a big shopping and I am a zombie for the rest of the day. no wonder, shopping is tiring but still. it doesn’t change, no matter how I eat)…
I am interested too, especially when there are energy problems, not eating enough a logical first thought. Many people have a weird effect from keto and get satiated with little food. Too little.
Thank you for answering so quickly:-)
I normally eat in a day: 2-3 eggs, a 100 g piece of salmon or same amount of ground beef/ham/chicken, some feta or mozarella cheese, green salads/broccoli, one avocado, olive oil, heavy cream in coffee, 1-2 tbs mct oil.
Maybe l should try to eat three times instead of giving up?
My Long covid does not help me at all. That‘s what‘s pulling me down, l know it but don‘t know any more what to do about it. The most disturbing is the horrible brain fog. After one day of fasting it is better but as soon as l start eating again it‘s back.
How about a nice long healing fast? Try to go 3-7 days and then reintroduce KETO foods after. If the brain fog lifts fasted, you may just need a little longer of a fast. 7 days would be a good purge and heal opportunity for your cells.
It is very little food, even protein… Of course I don’t know your needs or abilities eating wise but still, it can’t be enough for most people.
Some people eat 3 meals a day. I have tended to 2 meals a day, but that took a while to do.
How much do you weigh? That seems like so little food. 100g of meat is less than four ounces. I eat triple that, easily, at my first meal, and that doesn’t include the other things I eat at that meal.
Keto is not a “cure” for everything. I’ve been keto/carnivore for 3 years and am still dealing with long covid from 2 years ago.
I have a whole bunch of aches, joints, back, muscles, maybe also bones, they come and go but are never really gone.
I was trying intermittent fasting on a daily basis for the last three months, and 36 hours every week. I also have to work, so l don‘t know if l can make a long fast, as l already have very little energy…
So you can’t afford losing a significant amount of fat. Eat more. Hungry or not, you need the proper amount of nutrients. Fortunately we humans can eat without hunger and without appetite. It can’t be just me Sometimes it’s not easy, even I have such days (but I could afford not eating for a month…) but we should make it happen, one way or another. And when it’s impossible, let’s hope our body has enough resources to make our survival possible (we should avoid being underweight. some sickness where one can’t properly eat and things easily get dangerous).
Yes, maybe a third meal would do good. Try to eat a few bites even if you feel no hunger. I often don’t feel hunger until I start to eat, it’s quite common. And if I never get hungry, I still can eat some. Keto food is often quite dense, a few fatty bites can make a difference! (It helps less with protein though.)
If nothing else works, I drink part of my protein and fat, it’s easier that way.
I don’t know where you live, but if medical cannabis is a thing, it will deal both with your pains and your appetite.
when the last time you have lab work for vitamin D, and do you take vitamin B 12 regularly?
