2nd time in keto - not working as it supposed to?

#1

So I have tried Keto diet last year for around 5 months before I hit a plateau and quit (there were a lot going on and I simply didn’t have the time nor energy to carry on). Since then I gained like 15 lbs and decided to give keto another shot.

Now I’m 3 weeks in and the scale is just not changing at all it’s driving me nuts. I’m using apps to track the food I consume; bought some test strips which showed I’m actually in keto. But why isn’t it working? Maybe I should work out more? This is so frustrating.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and comments, I really appreciate the support! But Just checked the scale and I gained 1 pound. Literally don’t know how to feel right now.

Today I had 2 rolls of avocado/cauliflower sushi with 1 spear of asparagus, 2 leaves of lettuce, strip steak, and a few butter scallops. The last few weeks I’ve been eating pretty much like that. Trying to keep the carbs below 20g and 100g fat.
23 y/o female, work out occasionally (don’t judge lol), started taking fish oil recently. I did experience keto flu this time around but that was over pretty quick. When I first tried keto last year I did not have any of those symptoms.
I made bulletproof coffee or tea as a fat bomb sometimes but really don’t like the oily taste. Probably because I’m a black coffee addict. Also, does it matter if you use animal fat or vegetable fat?

Well I’m going to stick with keto for another month or so but if this time doesn’t work I’m thinking of going back to the “mainstream healthy diet” and just hit the gym more.
Any suggestions are appreciated and the best luck to you guys out there!

I can see where that would be very frustrating. I don’t know what to say, except, I hope you don’t give up.

You still need a caloric deficit: eat less and/or move more.

Can you give us some more info to go on?
Age, sex, weight, health issues, meds, and a sample menu for a days normal meals would all help to give you some better responses.

Would need a sample days diet to see what your doing, if your in ketosis you’re half way there but it’s something in your eating holding you back. Are you eating the same way now that you were back when you were keto (but stalled) before? Any stats you can give help.

Ahhh, the motto that failed millions

Got any science to back that up?

Hang in there. There is a reason they say Keep Calm and Keto on. You need to think of this as a lifestyle not just a diet. Once you get there mentally, you know you are in this for the long haul. Sometimes your body needs to heal first before it lets go of the weight.

I tell people they start this diet for the weight loss – but stay because of how they feel. Think long term.

Also, track every bit for a week and see if you are maybe going over the 20gm of carbs (Total… not net) a day.

Are you eating throughout the day? Maybe try IF with an 8 hour window.

Any more detail will help us to help you!!!
