20 pound loss in first 3 weeks

So far so good. Lost 20 pounds in 3 weeks. I should be thrilled but I’m wondering if I’m loosing weight too fast? Also experiencing some muscle pain. Just wondering if this is normal or if there’s something I’m missing?

Congratulations! I dropped around 20 my first month, then 10 lbs each for the next 4 months. Your body is burning fat, that’s awesome, and just starting out you have a big tank to burn!

Good luck and keep it up…

The muscle cramps may be from losing minerals, and you may want to consider replacing electrolytes with broth, salt etc.

I am drinking mineral supplements. Lite salt, magnesium citrate, and “Kemo drive” I got on Amazon.

Some guys here have lost 40lbs in 2 weeks :flushed: and gone on to slower consistent weight loss or even plateaued. In general, bigger guys lose more, more quickly. Early weight loss is mostly water, this may just suggest that some people hold a lot more water than others or have a lot more flexible metabolisms in terms of lipolysis etc… The other advice is good about electrolytes but mostly I’d just be grateful to be a fast loser. A lot of people here would kill for your results :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

In such a short time it seems unlikely you are losing much lean body mass but make sure you are not undereating (starvation) lacking protein, or even over exercising and falling into CICO habits.

Congrats and KCKO!

Congratulations!

I am a newbie to Keto as well. I have been on Keto close to 4 weeks now (Since the second week of January 2018). I already lost 8 pounds.!!

I am Indian (east) by race and it is pretty difficult to fit Keto in my diet because of cultural preferences of eating a vegetarian diet at home. I, fortunately, eat all food, meats, fish, poultry. I am kind of an outlier in that regard.

I am 5 feet 4 inches, 158 pounds. So I am overweight but not that much. My major goal is to get healthy. I have been taking statins for cholesterols and was diagnosed pre-diabetic in 2016 (HBA1C 6.3), 2017 (HBA1C 5.9). My goal is to lower my HBA1C and stop taking statins and in the process lose weight.

Here are some of my observations and experiences.

  1. In the first few days, the food felt really weird. I wasn’t sure if I can keep up with so much fat and protein. I was struggling to find the food that fits Keto.
  2. My energy level was low, especially towards the evening as I was leaving work
  3. But as I entered the second week I felt better and now in the fourth week, I feel great.
  4. Eating too much protein grosses me out and makes me nauseous. Instead of protein, I just eat more fat. (ghee is my favorite, which my wife makes at home using butter)
  5. I had my first intermittent fast yesterday from Noon through next morning. Surprisingly I didn’t feel any hunger even in the morning. I could have gone for another 4-5 hours. This would not have been possible for me without Keto. I always feel hungry in the morning. Keto is amazing !!

Congrats! I lost the same amount in my first 3 weeks. It’s slowed down a little bit. There was a few weeks when I was stalled and lost nothing during that time period. Now I’m at a little over 3 months and I’ve lost 60 total.
