20:4 fasting

i get that part. and it’s something i subscribe to. but then there’s the constant nagging of “eat enough protein” … i doubt i can eat enough protein, which for me is about 120g, in a single sitting before i feel full. i feel full long before that.

I get that, but Imo I think the importance of set levels of protein are perceived way too high in the west. Unless your doing serious weight training, and even then I’m not sure, your body will maintain itself well on satiating levels of protein. Eat like a mammalian carnivore- eat all the fat from your kill you can, some lean muscle if needed then sleep in the sun and socialise for a few days until needed.

What do you mean by enough protein?

If it’s to maintain your muscle mass, well fasting increases growth hormone and saves muscle loss. Protein requirements are actually pretty low to maintain.

If it’s to grow muscle mass well again not much extra protein atop of your needs are necessary. Think how much a lb of protein is. Look at a lb of meat. It’s what 24g per serving so bout 100g of protein in a lb of beef. Interesting so let’s use logic here a bit. If you want to theoretically gain a lb a week of muscle (not worrying about anabolic signal and such) so if you’re optimized to grow you’d need a extra 100g of protein for that week about your current need. That’s 14g extra a day. If you need 85g that means 99g… If you need 50g that means 64g.

Relax, focus on how you physically feel first and then adjust for your goals.
