2 weeks in

Hi! I’m 2 weeks in to the keto diet and on day #4 I started having heart palpitations. I take a beta blocker to keep my heart rate lower and to stop the palpitations anyway (long before I started this diet). But now the heart palpitations are more frequent and nothing stops them. Anyone have a similar experience? How long do they last?

I also don’t feel better. I was told I’d have more energy, but I still feel like the same ole’ me, except 7 lbs lighter

I would go see a doctor, sooner than later!
Also check you blood pressure(BP) it drops for most people.

Issues to check for potassium either high or low this is the place I would start.

If you don’t have kidney issues possibly adding salt, but I would consult with your doctor on all of this first I cannot speak to what how the beta blockers would effect things.

magnesium low less likely

Salt gets flushed out and we need to intake more salt than standard diets.

Hi! Thanks for your reply. I’ve been to my cardiologist. He says it’s just palpitations and nothing to worry about. Had the EKG, blood work to check electrolytes…everything was normal. However magnesium was not something he checked.

You may want to switch the question to the medical area, there are a lot of people dealing with various forms of heart rhythm issues. But make sure you salt level is going up you will need that more and more. I was low on salt, that fixed several issues, I was high on potassium for short while as well which gave me heart rate issues and palpation s.
