2 weeks in, no Ketosis

Hey all,
This can be pretty confusing. I am two weeks in and still not in Ketosis. I have stayed under 20g carbs everyday and hitting my protein and fat macros. My calories for a day are 1300 and have never gone over. Tbsp of MCT oil everyday. I have 2 tbsp, HWC daily, I do snack on a lot of cheese. Should a try and cut out the dairy? Has anyone noticed a difference???

You’re only two weeks in. Relax. Everyone’s different. Just make sure you’re eating when you’re hungry. Being in a deficit, which it looks like you may be, could be self defeating. Carbs low, adequate protein, and fats to satiety. Whether that be 1300 call or 2300. Personally I was taking in higher calories in the beginning until my body got used to it and then my hunger for the dietary fat dropped significantly fairly quickly. Then it was body fat eating time.

Thank You for responding!!! I’m snacking through the day to get all my macros in, should I just stick to higher fat/protein meals to get macros in? And skip the snacking. Any thoughts on Protein shakes?

Are you relying on the ketostix to judge whether you’re in ketosis? I never registered on those.

I don’t think there is one clear path that everyone needs to follow with Keto. Especially since we are all different, and will not react the same. But I can say that for me, as well as my family, we stay away from any snacking. … Anything we eat is within the timeframe we choose to have a meal. So anything we may want to snack on such as Porkrinds (Me) or pecans (wife), etc. we eat those with our meals, so we are not eating anything in between.

But as I said, we are all different, and I believe some on this forum have even mentioned doing some snacking when needed between meals. I’m just not sure how much this affects one getting into Ketosis at the beginning?

Snacking throughout the day is most likely not helping your case and I personally avoid packaged food, including protein shakes, bars, etc. I try to get all of my nourishment from Whole Foods whenever possible.
