12 weeks in and fantastic progress

Today marks 12 weeks (Dec 1st) being keto and I’ve lost 30.5lbs and 8% body fat! I have not been perfect and I still have a lot to learn. I had my cheats on date night and one major slip, but I keep going and am not give up even through my frustrations (which have been many). I’ve got another 68lbs to lose, but knowing I’m 1/3 the way there has been a big boost to my morale. I can see the finish line so much easier. This is not a diet for me, it is a permanent lifestyle change because I want to keep the weight off. I’m one of the lucky unicorns who keto works well for. Before keto about 85% of my diet was carbs for pretty much most of my life. I am not posting this to brag or anything. I want to show people that it can work. It may not be fast, but it does work from the inside out. You have to let the process work on the inside before it’ll show on the outside. I have A LOT of fat to lose. My BFP was 51.7 when I started so I have a lot of fuel. lol

I also knew what body type I was and that helped me figure out what I needed to do to get the weight off. I have learned to deal with my stress in a whole new way and rely more on other people for help when I start feeling stressed out. When everything seems too overwhelming I take a long walk alone to get out of my head. During my toddlers naptime I take that 3 hours to myself every day to decompress and relax. Getting fat adapted was the key. Once that happened it really kicked up my weight loss. I don’t starve myself. I average between 1300-1400 cals because thats all I can eat. I stay under 20g carbs except when I cheat on date night and usually its for a beer or two once or twice a month, like I said, I’m not perfect but I am patient with the process and I don’t stress on my choices or the ups downs on the scale. I take things one day at a time. I’m on track to hit my finish line before my wedding anniversary in October which will be more of a celebration for me. I am averaging -10 lbs a month which is what I am initially aiming for. A nice, steady pace. It’s not a sprint. I am aware as time goes on, my weight loss will become slower and slower but I don’t need giant numbers every day, every week, or even every month. The beginning was a big learning curve. I played with my macros and foods from week to week to find out what worked best for me. I didn’t find what worked until I was 2 months in and adapted.

My hypertension is gone, I’m off my adderall, my blood sugars have been outstanding and now I feel ready to schedule an appointment to get my bloodwork done to check my a1c so I can hopefully say I’m not prediabetic anymore or at least well on my way to not being prediabetic. Good news for my husband is that I don’t snore anymore either so I also sleep better too.

I hope this in some small way helps someone out there who is struggling to understand that I too struggled in the beginning and I was frustrated all the time with not seeing the results I wanted and expected… Once I let it all go and just focused on the carbs and stopped trying to do everything I read about that would speed up the process, the dam finally broke and the weight startd coming off. Don’t overthinking it. I’m a dweller and an over analyzer and just removing that aspect made a huge difference. KCKO.
