10th week in, some positives but feeling muscle achey and fatigued...?

I went into Keto with feelings of fatigue but hopes of an energy boost haven’t materialised yet.
I’ve been strict and stuck to my daily macros. I’ve lost some pounds which is good.

I am exercising a bit and doing some aerobic two or three times a week (17m each). What I find is that during exercise I do have a touch more endurance than before , but tiredness hits me next day along with some muscle aches.

I know you’re probably thinking Magnesium or Postassium but I do have those supps in citrate form and have taken them after exercise.
I also take a little bicarb’ soda and electro-mix with salt water so I try and replenish.

Any ideas? I do want to take more bone broth, I think that will help, but wondering when the extra energy will kick in.

(Underneath it all actually I sense that my HPA axis needs rebooting and when I mentally rest, I physically feel better , if you know what I’m saying.)

I do not know what you are saying.

I’m basically asking, “what do you think is causing my muscle aches / cramps and fatigue?”

Electrolyte imbalance. I dont know enough about that to explain, but at lease you have search terms now.

I would say that the 4 biggest suspects for your fatigue at the beginning of your Keto journey would be eating too little, not eating enough fat, excercising too much and not getting enough electrolytes.

Some stats might help. How tall are you? What what’s your weight? How much are you eating? When you’re just starting Keto, calorie restriction, not eating enough fat, or too much exercise can slow down the fat adaption process. 6 to 8 weeks is the normal amount of time for most people to reach fat adaption, but some people take longer. It’s also sort of a sliding scale, you go along getting a bit better fat adapted until you reach a tipping point.

I have the same problem. I definitely feel better when I take a turmeric supplement at night and use magnesium oil on my legs at night. Oral magnesium knocks me out and gives me a terrible hangover -even in small amounts. I also find that if I don’t drink 2.5 - 3 liters the day of exercise and take some Himalayan salt prior to exercise, it causes muscle aches at night and the next day. Bone broth is great. I have used it with added salt in the mornings instead of my coffee with ACV, lemon, butter and cayenne - which gives me a good AM boost. I have also just added salt and took it before bed so I don’t get up and pee every 2 hours and it helped with my dry mouth at night for the first 3-4 weeks. According to some other posts I have read, it can take up to 3 months to get your body adapted so stick to it!!

I must get some bone broth in me.
I too have magnesium oil, but it doesn’t do too much for me. I got it to help me sleep, maybe I should put more on…
Thanks for the water tip.
My siutation is slightly more complex becuase my thyroid is not 100% and I have had Lyme.

Ahh, I see…Since you have other medical issues, maybe go get some blood work from your doctor to see where you are with your thyroid as well as your electrolytes and such.
Dr. Axe has a good bone broth recipe, but you can wing it - just be sure to add ACV to the bone broth while making it to help draw out the minerals from the bones. I usually get my bones form the farmer’s market, but a local butcher should have grass fed bones available. I do prefer to make my own but Kettle and Fire makes a good one too.

Also, a strict typical keto diet is not the only option for high fat living.
