1 week in - RESULTS?!

So - I started Keto on the 1st March - one week ago. So far I have really enjoyed it, it doesn’t feel like a diet at all. I am IF too, approx 16:8 as that’s what fits with my lifestyle. I’m having signs of ketosis already… but i’m guessing it’s too early for that? The main one being a change in body odour (which was a big fear of mine and unfortunately is real!). I’m deifnitely becoming less hungry already, and physical excertion is a bit harder… i’ve also been very sleepy in the evenings, but super focussed in the day.

Tomorrow I am going to weigh myself, as my journey is primarily for weight loss. It will be 1 week since my last weigh in which was last friday at 153.4lbs - I had gained a couple in the weeks leading up to Keto as I was packing away the carbs for the last time!

I will update this thread tomorrow with my weigh in results… I am nervous. I have seen a couple of threads about people gaining in the first week, which is fine I will still KC&KO. However I certainly FEEL like I have lost weight, so we shall see!

You are on ketosis. It takes about 24 hours to burn through available carbs and start burning fat, and fat burning for fuel,is all ketosis is. You’re not in “optimal” ketosis, and i realize lots of people here focus on a number or some sort of steady state fat based metabolic burn, and call it ketosis, bUT that ketosis++

It takes weeks for your body to get reasonably efficient at fat burning, and find its sweet spot. All you can do is feed it right and let it do its thing. So you are doing everything right. Your body is adjusting it’s fluid levels right now (I’m sure you’ve notices this), it’s dramatic at first, but it’ll settle down quickly.

I found this article helpful re ketosis.

Hope it helps!

What she said. It took and is taking a little bit for my body to fully use fat as a primary fuel source. From my research its ok. I am still reaping the benefits of being in ketosis. Better mood, decreased aches and pain and yes weight loss. I read somewhere on here that it could take 6 months or more. In 3.5 months in and I’m feeling like the butterfly I am. Best wishes and KCKO.

Thank you for your replies! Scales were very nice to me today. -4.5lbs! Very pleased with that as I have already lost 3 stone on a low calorie diet over the last few months and had reached a stalling point. I only have around 9-14lb to lose now to get to where I want to be but i’m going to be working on going to the gym and building more lean mass.
