1 month keto and I’m off my BP meds!

(Adriana) #1

I’m 30 years old, with high blood pressure detected one year ago, I had to start meds right away because it was so high; I’m also obese (starting weight 132kg), have PCOS, insulin resistance, high triglycerides and several allergies; but the HBP was my wake up call, I know the long term effects it can bring to the body, I have family history of several chronic diseases and don’t want to live depending on pills.

Since the diagnosis I tried to lose weight with several diets, but I was not successful. I read about Keto one day in an articule about PCOS, did research on the topic and decided to start 28 days ago.

On week 1 I had to stop taking my diuretic because going to the bathroom every hour was no fun, my BP didn’t increase, on week 3 I started having dizzy spells and really low BP readings when resting, on week 4 I told my doctor about this and he told me to stop taking my BP pill and monitor my BP three times a day during the weekend, if I had high readings I had to go back on losartan, but with a lower dose.

Today is my third day without BP medication and normal readings, I’m so so so happy I could cry! I can’t believe it! I’m amazed this happened so quickly, controlling my high BP without medication is the main reason I started this WOE, I hoped this would happen in a few months not a few days/weeks of doing this, I really can’t believe it!

The same thing happened to me and 9 months later remains stable. In what we eat is the power to kill us or heal us. Welcome to your first big win, in what will come to be a pretty long list!

This is the why! Great job and I’m so happy for you!

@Wahinewanders I hope this continues, I still can’t believe it, I think I’ll keep checking my BP once or twice a day for a while longer :see_no_evil: Just one month!

Thank you, I hope to continue seeing amazing things like this!:grin:

@Happyheart Thank you! And exactly, this is the why! This WOE hasn’t been hard at all, but if someday I want to cheat, I’ll have to remember this day.

@Adriana that is so exciting! Thank you for sharing your wonderful news!

I have coworkers on BP meds, and I wish they could be free of them too, but apparently this diet is too “restricting”, I guess.

But at least you’re off them now! Excellent job! I’m proud of you. :+1:

My father and brother are also on BP meds, I would love for them to also go keto, but so far they are reluctant. I hope my example and good news is enough for them to change their minds.

Thank you!

It’s an awesome feeling, isn’t? Congrats to you too!

Thanks!

Congratulations! I’ve been keto for over 3 months and can’t get off my low-dose blood pressure medicine yet (but I’m nearly twice your age ).

I’m monitoring it daily and reporting it to my doctor once a month so he can have me stop taking them once I get low enough. Had one dizzy spell last week when I got up quickly so I know it’s coming down!

Thank you!

Yeah! That seems to be a good sign is going down, I’m sure you’ll get there
