Zero weight loss after six weeks

#1

Greetings fellow Keto friends,

I’m six weeks in eating strict Keto and I am loving many things about this new way of life. I have had multiple NSVs including reduced eczema, increased energy, better mood, no 3:00 nap attack, reduced cravings, and increased mental clarity. I am happy with these improvements and committed for the long haul. However… I have about 40 pounds to lose and I’ve seen ZERO change either on the scale or in my clothing size. I’ve tried cutting dairy, removing nuts, keeping strictly to my macros, having no low-carb sweeteners, and eating within a 12-hour window. Nothing seems to make a dent one way or another. I just ordered a Keto Mojo and am eager for it to arrive so I can see if I’m truly in ketosis. In addition to this, does anybody have any suggestions, thoughts, brilliant insights? I’m trying to just stay the course and enjoy the NSVs, but I’m getting a bit frustrated by the lack of weight loss. I’d love any help you have to give. Thanks in advance!

Just stay the course and the weight will come off (KCKO).

All these NSV are fabulous! Look at it this way. Would you rather still have those 40lbs and feel the way you did pre-keto or still have the 40lbs and feel the way you feel now? Sure its frustrating, but the main focus of eating a ketogenic diet is for health improvement, disease reversal/prevention, metabolic flexibility, improved health markers, and improved brain function, to name a few. Weight loss is incidental. Our bodies have their own idea of what it wants to “heal” first. Plus being only 6 weeks into this WOE, you are probably finally transitioning to becoming fat adapted, meaning your mitochondria have become efficient as using fat as fuel.

The weight will come off if you stay the course, maybe not as fast as you’d like it to, but it will. In the meantime, enjoy those fabulous NSV you have already

What are your stats? Height/Weight/Activity Level/ are you working out? What are the macros your trying to hit, and give us a couple days sample menu.

Sorry to hear you’re struggling. Maybe adding some more exercise to your routine might help speed things up?

Thank you all for responding and for the encouragement! I am 48, female, 5’9" and 185 lbs. I gained 30 pounds this past year for no apparent reason, but it was likely hormonal and due to having the stress of a severely ill child for six months. Prior to that I was approximately155 pounds for all of my adult life, aside from pregnancy.

My macros are 1700 calories, 148 grams fat, 20 grams net carbs, and 73 grams protein. I rarely hit that much protein, though. It’s usually around 60 grams. I do light exercise - pilates multiple times a week, gardening, walking dogs, etc. I don’t do a huge amount of sitting, but no aerobic exercise, either. I could definitely move more.

Thank you for the reminder to value the NSVs. I will stay the course and try to have faith that I’m healing inside. If you get any other inspirations about what I could change, please ring in.

Best to you all!
