Zero carb: should I worry about my liver?

(Shromona Das) #1

I’m 5’2, 23 years old and currently on the 9th month of my keto life. I’m willing to switch over to a carnivore diet.

  1. Are masalas allowed? (Basic curry spices, little garlic, a little onion, occasional sprinkle of chopped cilantro or a dash of oregano for seasoning?)
  2. I’ll die without desserts, at least till I get over them. Can I take 100% whey protein supplements with a spoon full of cocoa (raw, unsweetened)?
  3. Can I end up with a fatty liver?
  4. What is the maximum quantity of paneer/HWC/cheese can I consume?

Some people are very successful on ZC. I would have trouble without greens. Is keto not working well for you??

  1. Try cutting them out for 30 days and adding them back in, then see how you feel.
  2. Try cutting them out for 30 days. You are NOT going to die without desserts, conversely, too much dessert can kill you.
  3. Not by eating this way. Eating this way cures fatty liver.
  4. Start with zero for 30 days.

Uhmm… I love greens. I’m attracted to lush broccolis and green soothing cucumbers. But, I think I need to be stricter for a month or two. I can’t do zero carb ever- my life runs on curry. I need ginger garlic onion and tomatoes. But I may minimise my green intake to get over my carb accident which occurred the day before. Besides, I’m not hungry much. I can not eat more than 800-900 calories a day. I feel awfully stuffed. Is that bad?

Fat is satisfying and while adding calories doesn’t stuff you. A pat of butter, or splash of Olive oil on your curry would go well.

Have you tried fasting?
Its a fast and effective way to get over “accidents”. Beyond the physiological benefits, the mental benefits are unrivaled. It improves discipline, willpower and self confidence.

Check out the Keto Woman Podcast with @Daisy. She just had a two part episode with Amber O’Hearn that covered ZC/Carnivore.

No one will die without desserts. Cut them out. You’ll adjust and feel better.

Plenty of individuals have died without ever having set foot in a desert, I’ll have you know!

Ohkk. A week without cocoa powder. Wish me luck.

I do fasting. I try doing OMAD but I don’t like to torment my body. If I feel hungry, I have a tiny dinner. Here’s what a typical day of eating looks like:

I drink black tea without any sweetner in the morning. I drink a lemon ginger herbal tea. Followed by ACV and lemon water. I may throw in some fresh mint or holy basil, some cinnamon and star anise and cardamom and clove to make my humble black chai interesting.

I don’t like sweet/milky tea so that’s that. I even drink my coffee unsweetened and black.

I have my first meal at around 1-1.30ish comprising of half a scoop of whey protein (15 gms), 5-9 gms of unsweetened raw cocoa powder (stirred with 5-10 ml of HWC, an occasional dollop of 5-7 gms if salted peanut butter, homemade), blended with a cup of hot water and 3-5 gms of butter and that’s my uncomplicated hot cocoa.

I then have either 45-60 gms of stir fried fish. And two eggs, boiled or scrambled. Or I have 60-100 gms of de-boned chicken (not lean meat. I de-bone the pieces manually after cooking). O usually have 20 gms of homemade tomato chili ketchup (tomatoes and green chili blended with garlic, tossed in olive oil with stevia and salt and cayane pepper). I eat maximum 30-40 gms of vegetables occasionally, though I’m gradually falling out of love with veggies.

If I’m not hungry, I have 3-4 cups of herbal tea till bedtime (12.30 at night). Else, I eat one scrambled egg, 60 gms of chicken, or both as a dinner. I sometimes crave cheese so I eat 25gms of cheese baked in the microwave. That’s it.

Most of my carbs comes from the cocoa. I keep my net carbs below 15 gms usually.

Seems you are following a diabetic routine. But it really helps to delimit excess energy intake in terms of carbs. Keep going with your herbs and blacks. I, even being diabetic, can’t help to restrict myself from having a DELICIOUS cup of tea with milk and SUGAR. Sometimes tea like my aforementioned evening cup turns lethal for patients like ME. …
