He says that your existing body fat will be used up if you don’t consume more fat. He sounds pretty sure of himself and it got a lot of likes. Wondering what others think of his opinion? He is in a sweet jungle.
Youtube Guru claims you can eat higher protein, lower fat on Keto
In general, I agree with him, i.e. just keep the carbs low enough, and that’s it. Because that approach takes care of what got most of us into our situation in the first place.
Once a person is fat-adapted and eating ketogenically, then (again, in general) the exact amount of protein does not matter. However, person by person, there are cases where more or less protein is called for - they find out they really are affected, and that there is ‘too much’ or ‘not enough.’
That didn’t work for me. I tried it very seriously! The only thing that works for me is very low carbs, 50-60 grams of protein, and super high fat all day long. This got me to 114 lbs and keeps me there. I’m 5’3".
When I tried low carb and low fat together, I didn’t lose weight, and I went into metabolic shut-down mode where I had muscle aches all the time, no ketosis, and no energy.
Good advice unless all you’re trying to lose is so-called ‘vanity weight’. People may feel that they have a lot of body fat to use instead of plate fat but that doesn’t mean they do. If such people restrict plate fat they are basically restricting calories & that will bite you on the arse eventually.
So he dissed people trying to sell you “ketogenic products and services” when the whole point of his video is to hawk his wife’s keto cookbook?
If it works it works… High protein doesn’t work for me, I stall AND get hungry, fat is what satiates me. I couldn’t tell you why, the more I look at it the more individual diet seems to be.
So true. I’ve read reports of the opposite where fat doesn’t satisfy but protein does.
For my n=1… I think the protein satisfies me quicker than fats but the fats keeps my hunger at bay the longest. I haven’t tweaked my macros because I do lazy keto and don’t know what they are at the moment.
Does not work for me.
I was doing a higher protein low to moderate fat and was losing nothing (with 100 lbs to lose). It was super frustrating. Lost barely anything in a 6 week time frame, was always hungry, cravings were awful and nothing was satisfying.
Totally opposite results on keto, finally feeling full, cravings diminished a ton and weight loss is 10x easier.
Love the Keto
