You decide my fate - VOTE HERE

I am into hour 117 of what was supposed to be a 72 hour fast. I even did my first fasting workout yesterday. I literally have phases of euphoria where I want to take off skipping.

The weight is coming off nicely with Keto, but fasting has taken it to a new level. I don’t want this feeling to end. The truth is, I feel like i am over the 72 hour hump and I could go on forever. I really don’t want to start over. But I probably should eat something, right?. Refeeds are important to keep my metabolic rate from dropping, right?

A few facts:

I am a hefty girl with 100 pounds to lose.
Been Keto for 2 months and IF/EF consistently since October 3rd
Pre-Diabetic and PCOS
Daily Multi-vitamin w/ magnesium baths, Him. Sea Salt and potassium supplement
Water only fast

So I want advice from YOU keto pals. Please vote. What should I do?

a) KCFO
b) KCFO but add a little broth
c) Stop fasting now, do a healthy refeed and start EF again in a couple of days
d) Transition from a water fast to a egg or fat fast
e) I wish to have no part in your shenanighans

Please Vote. I am patiently waiting for YOU to decide my fate. =0)

a) KCFO - there will come a time when your body is telling you to start eating again, but it’s not yet.

(Tom Seest) #3

A. You’ll know when the jig is up, and you can dance the jig. You’re past the difficult part now.

A) KCFO

No.
Fasting is the best way to lose weight.
Go as long as you feel right.

Even if you feel you have to eat a bit … start small.

What Doug said…

Another vote for A!

A.) Keep it up as long as you’re feel good. What you break your fast with is also very important.

(I want abs... olutely all the bacon) #8

If you feel good keep going

(Ken) #9

A) KCFO - until your body says, enough. Have a great day.

Refeeds for metabolic purposes become necessary only when effects are felt. I went two years without them. By then I had lost 80% of my excess fat. They are also dependent on training.

A. Your body will tell you when you need to eat again. With 100 lbs. to go, you should have good stores to tap into. Break the fast with something simple like olives or macadamia nuts, wait about 30 mins. then have one of your normal Keto meals, with maybe a slight bit more fat, but not too much. Oh and many people report having issues with breaking a fast with eggs for some reason, their tummies do not like fasting into eggs. YMMV, but you might want to add them in a future meal.

All the best, fasting sure made the difference for me.

I’m on day 5 also. I’ll continue on in solidarity with you.

I usually have one meal a week, so let me know when you break it, and that’s the day I’ll have my meal.

You are my heartbeat @4dml Thank you so much for the support. I really need it. I don’t physically feel the need to eat, it’s all mental. I keep myself busy and that seems to help. I hope to make it through at least Halloween. I will check in daily and let you know how I am doing

(Bacon for the Win) #14

another KCFO vote. you got this!

#15

You’ve got lots of support, we’re all cheering for you!
How’s it going today?

(Dawn) #16

Thanks to everyone who voted. Option ‘A’ won with no second place option. LOL!!! Let’s me know that I am on the right track. I am continuing to fast and I feel great. My goal is to push all the way to Friday November 3rd. The weight loss is simply amazing. Almost one full pound per day. Does anyone know if this willl cause hair loss? I am a little nervous about that. I plan on doing a 5 day on and 2 day off fast from now until I reach my goal weight (current fast excluded which will be 14 days). The key is to stay busy. Unfortunately for me, I do still have to cook dinner for my family so there is some temptation there. But not much. I can control it.

I also want to mention that a few months ago, I was 20 pounds away from 300 pounds. Today, I am 20 pounds away from 'one’derland. It truly is amazing what keto and fasting have done for me. Thanks to everyone for the support. I will continue to check in. Thank You, thank you, thank you.

I feel great @4dml . I can’t tell at all that I haven’t eaten. I mean it really is a non issue. I went grocery shopping, hung out at the mall and went for a short walk. My original goal was to fast all the way down to onederland, but I kept thinking that was a ridiculous plan. Now, I totally believe I can do it. I am so happy and feel so blessed. I’m trying not to cry because i am overwhelmed at the possibility of saving my own life. (ok, I am sure that is just some over active hormones that were trapped in some adipose tissue that I am now releasing, LOL!!!)

How are YOU feeling? Do you think we can make it until Friday?

(Doug) #18

It’s on individual thing - some do lose hair, some do not. I don’t think it is very prevalent, and it does grow back - I’ve never seen somebody say they fasted and lost hair permanently.

(Dawn) #19

Thanks @OldDoug , what about loose skin? For the first time in my life, I believe a 100 pound weight loss is possible. But I keep seeing monsters on youtube stretching their loose skin out like flying squirrels. Do I need to prepare for that as well?

(Doug) #20

Loose skin is also something that varies from person to person. There seems to be an overall effect where fasting - that gives the benefits of autophagy - results in less loose skin than does calorie reduction. Our skin is our largest organ, often making up one-sixth of a person’s weight (that always seems surprisingly high to me). If the body is in the mode of recycling all the protein that it can - autophagy - then it makes sense that extra skin will not be needed as we lose weight, and thus will be on the table for the body to use up. I would not promise anything, however; in the end it’s just going to be how one’s individual body reacts.
