WW vs Keto (on WW website)

(Marianne) #61

I agree. I followed Oprah for years and know about her struggles with her weight. Many times I think that if she just tried keto (with the cooks she has at her disposal), she would love this WOE, feel satisfied, lose weight and be able to keep it off. Probably most, if not all, of us here used to love carbs. If you eat enough delicious keto food to satiety, those cravings fall away until they become just an afterthought.

I went to WW 4-5 times over the course of my life. It was a “diet” to me as well, i.e., white knuckle ride, plus it cost a small fortune. I was successful three times but gained it all back each time and then some.

I love keto. Been doing it effortlessly for over eight months now with only one mishap where I got into the sweets at a wedding reception.

From the article:

Nothing’s off the menu on the WW programme, and that includes bread, pasta and dessert.

I think I see where their problem is… :joy::joy:

If foods that stimulate hunger are constantly on the menu, then hunger will be a constant problem.

And keep you coming back year after year paying them money!!!

Well I have bread (made with nut flours), pasta (miracle noodles or zoodles) and dessert (chocolate fat bombs, keto cheesecake etc.) So nothing is off my WOE menu either.

Besides they want you to buy those overly processed WW items.

Exactly this. I was wondering why on earth Oprah would even have to give them money; they must be really rich already, that bit confuses me, haha.

She does tons of commercials for them; soooo, I always figured she was being paid for doing them and making even more money. Her giving them money seems odd.

She owns @10% of the company now.

(Susan) #68

Ohh okay. Wow, she owns like everything.

(Marianne) #69

Yes, that’s what is so sad. People just don’t “get” it, maybe because they don’t want to.

“Keto? Oh no, I could never give up bread and pasta.” :man_shrugging:t3:

(Marianne) #71

I know; right? - even if the alternative is to remain morbidly obese, unhealthy, depressed, sick, etc.

Can’t tell you how many times I have heard that Oh no, I could never give up…

So they stay unhealthy, over weight, etc. instead of eating delicious keto meals.

We can only advise them, we can’t get them to eat properly, they have to be at their time of readiness to hear the truth.

(Jack Bennett) #73

I mean, I get where they’re coming from. There’s a fear of being forced to give up things that give you pleasure and comfort. If you love eating pizza and pastries and fresh baked bread, and you’re hooked on them, it feels painful to hear that they are being taken away.

You could tell me now that I would never eat wheat bread again and I wouldn’t care. I no longer have an attachment. But there were certainly times in my life where that prospect would have been extremely painful.

I’ve heard from several folks close to the WW community that they will be introducing a “low carb keto-like” program starting in 2020. I doubt they will label it keto just so they can continue to charge people money for a specially labelled WW program lol. This still intrigues me that more people will likely be exposed and will to try this WOE. We’ll see…

(Edith) #75

Even if it is keto, that would be fine. Not everyone likes to do things independently. Why not have WW support if you need it?

(Jane) #76

I think it would be great if they really committed to a keto program - not just a half-assed low carb program.

Since they make so much money on their products they could come out with their own keto line. But they had better do it right with real food ingredients or the keto community will roast them!!!
