Wow - big money being poured into ketone development (edit: false alarm...)

#1

On a lark, I went to www.ketones.com just to see which smarty pants was wise enough to grab that domain.

It automatically redirects to…

…wait for it…

www.dow.com

:flushed:

That’s the mega chemical company, not the stock index.

I find this domain parking fascinating and a signal that substantial money is going into exogenous ketone research and development. Whether that proves to be a good thing or a bad thing is something my great grandkids will find out. :sunglasses:

EDIT- please read the next few posts before getting upset! False alarm folks!

There’s no way this is a good thing…

  1. They’re taking it to sit on it so that A. no one can ever use it or B. they can charge a fuckload of money to whoever wants it.

  2. They’re developing some kind of exogenous ketones or other supplement in the same factory they manufacture bleach and degreaser.

  3. ???

EDIT: 4. DEBUNKED possibly, I retract my conspiracy claws.

I think you’re on the right track with #2, Dread. They may be trying to tweak their current formula for “Jack’s all-purpose mouthwash and motor oil.”

After having dug deeper, it seems I might be off base on this connection. Apparently “ketones” has many different connotations. http://www.dow.com/en-us/markets-and-solutions/products/OxygenatedSolvents/MethylIsobutylKetone

Carry on.

Man, you tickled and teased my conspiracy gland for this??

kidding

@Dread1840, Ha! It would have been cool if there was that connection to exogenous ketone development. It looks like Dow has had that domain since about 1999.

They haven’t been cybersquatting on it, so I think there’s a decent chance they could sell the domain name down the road. $$$$$$

(Doug) #7

Well yeah - solvents like acetone and even some antibiotics are ketones, so it’s a wide field. But who knows? It seems like a waste that it just goes to Dow’s site…

#8

Indeed. @OldDoug. Pruvit grabbed buyketones.com but you can have getketones.com for $2295.

(Jim Russell) #9

How about imakemyownketonesthankyou.com ?

#10

Available, @Jimbo! Have at it!

(Linda Culbreth) #11

You probably ought to add the word “cheaply” before the thank you.
