Wouldn't call it a 'stall' but

I’m on week 8
Total loss so far is 7.2kg (roughly 15 pounds)
My carbs are strict to <20 a day but I am only eating roughly 1000-1300 calories.
Is this why I am not losing weight?
I don’t mind going over my protein but I’m conscious of dietary fat now that I am fat adapted, but I think I have been hurting my progress with calories too low.
If I force myself to eat more to up my calories, should that macro always be fat if I have exceeded my protein macro?

I am eating TMAD, can’t seem to switch to ONE yet, or I just don’t want to. Im scared i’ll eat even LESS. I tried OMAD the other night with bacon and eggs and I was just so full. Figuring out my fasting has been hard because I am hungry in the morning, and not at night, and prefer coffee in the morning, but also enjoy eating dinner out on a weekend. Argh.

Any guidance would be great

Current stats ;

1580 Calorie budget (never meet it)
20g carbs (meet this daily)
100g of protein (meet this daily)
120g of fat (rarely meet this)

I am 32 and 5’4, current weight 74kg.

Thank you!

That does seem really low, especially the low end of it. What are your height and weight?

I’ve read that some people skip their dinner rather than their breakfast. If that works for you, go for it.

Have you taken measurements? I’m losing weight slowly, but I know I’m getting smaller. Not only am I noticing it in my clothes, I’m now getting daily comments about how much weight I’ve lost.

Katie,
The lower deficit is fine but don’t let it be a constant that the metabolism can adjust to. One day during the week meet or exceed your calorie limit to keep the metabolism up. Remember to change things up. You won’t gain any in one day.
This is why a lot of people fast (including me) occasionally. And if I let my proteins creep up I will not lose and might even gain slightly. The lower the protein seems the faster I lose. I just don’t go ridiculously low.

That does seem low, I’m 5’2 and I eat like 1500 at least myself. Your 15lbs is great. It’s taken me almost 3 months to lose 30. But I also started at 113kg or 251lbs. So even though I lost more (I have a lot more than you to lose) at 5’4 and roughly 165lbs my opinion is your under eating. Your metabolism will adjust to that you have to mix it up, keep it on its toes.

I totally agree. I do fluctuate. I usually do 1500 but sometimes I only do 1200. Right now I’m over 2000 with this bacon challenge and still losing 1lb ish a day! My metabolism doesn’t stop because I change around so much. I eat to satiety and sometimes I’m higher or lower.

(Ron) #6

Yes. I just started a fast after dinner tonight so I had a 4000 kcal day today to ramp the metabolism up. Changing things up is an absolute in my book.:+1::grin:

I was stuck for quite awhile until this bacon challenge that helped my calories about 500 or more made me break it lol, I love how I eat more and lose!

(Ron) #8

Yes. I remember when you were stalled and searching for advice. We can give a generalized suggestion but as you found out, it IS an n=1 journey. I am glad you have found a path to follow for you.:ok_hand:

I didn’t take measurements in the beginning but I can definitely feel that everything fits better, haven’t managed to go down a size though.

I’m 5’4, and 74kg

You get this as well? I get daily comments right now… it is great!

(Katie the Quiche Scoffing Stick Ninja ) #11

It has definitely been a consistent low calorie amount since I started. Under 1500 every day. I think I managed one day which was 2100 but that included alcohol and no carb beer.

(Ron) #12

Sounds like its time to ramp that metabolism back up and get things moving again.:slightly_smiling_face:

(Alec) #13

I agree, I think you need to teach your body to accept and burn more food. Specifically fat.

(Katie the Quiche Scoffing Stick Ninja ) #14

I think you are correct!
I will try stuffing my face more lol.
It really is hard to make the 2MAD to OMAD!

(Alec) #15

How about OMAD for a day with lower cals, then 2MAD the next day with more cals?

(Ron) #16

Do 3 meals a day sometimes. Change it up.

(Katie the Quiche Scoffing Stick Ninja ) #17

I actually have done that, but not meaning to. Though I am going to ramp up my efforts now and eat more fat.

(Ashley) #18

Thanks ron, it is so true! Everyone’s different! I’m in for the long haul weight wise or not. Health is what I want most so thankful for this group!

(Ashley) #19

216.5 from 251 since March 23rd. Bacon challenge started Friday went from 221 to 216.5. Take that stall! BAAAM
