Hi, relative newbie here. Been doing keto since end of July. Hubby since August while I needed to lose about 20 lbs, hubby had serious issues with gerd, for years, and this was the main reasons for going keto, as his gerd symptoms are dramatically improved when he cuts carbs and processed foods. Pre keto he had high cholesterol and triglycerides. We eat about the same and my pre keto blood work showed normal cholesterol with very good ratios, and my triglycerides were 35. I remembered that cause I thought it had to be a missprint, lol. I have lost about 10 lbs, very slowly…never register on the strips, and am still waiting for that energy everyone talks about. I did have terrible keto flu symptoms the first full month on keto, but that thank god subsided. Hubby always purple on keto strips, lost weight fast, feels great. I’m thinking it would be good to test our labs again but I confess I’m nervous his will look better but mine will look worse just because we seem to be opposites metabolically. if I wind up getting back values that show my tryglcerides are now way up would that be a concern? I fully understand the idea that cutting all the sugar and processed junk and refined grains can only serve to be healthier, but the long term avoidance of even vegetable source carbs I can’t help but wonder about. I’ve seen too many lifestyles, vegans come to mind, where despite having deficiency symptoms, poor health and even heart disease, blame the fact they weren’t strict enough or vegan enough and double down instead of toying with the idea that maybe just maybe their diet isn’t optimial for them. What should we expect to see in our bloodwork, and what would be a cause for concern when we retest?
Wonder what to expect if starting blood work was basically okay

I wouldn’t expect too much change. Your insulin and glucose numbers should be good; your HDL should increase if you’re eating saturated fat; your triglycerides should be decent, and your LDL may go up a bit, but it should be all Pattern A. If your triglycerides and/or LDL look wonky, then check out Dave Feldman’s site, www.cholesterolcode.com, for information about why that might have happened and what to do about it. Your HbA1C may go down a bit further. Pulse and blood pressure should be completely normal. Liver enzymes shouldn’t really change.
On the other hand, everyone is a bit different, and you may see some weird stuff. If you do, come back, and we’ll try to help you sort it out.
