Winter, Fasting, Gym and Weight Gain

(Thurston ) #1

So we moved from NY to NC in September. Before the move I had been walking everyday and doing a keto woe and lost 70 lbs.

After the move it wasn’t as easy to get my walks in, too much debris around after the hurricane.

I joined a gym and started to IF to try to keep the weight off but I’ve been gaining weight steadily since. I want to nip this in the bud before it gets out of hand.

I will admit since Thanksgiving and a little carb fest with the family things have gotten a bit more difficult.

Just wondering if anyone’s been in a similar situation and what they’ve done to combat this scenario

I do think some of this is winter related.

All help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Abs are made in the kitchen, you didn’t quite go into detail on how you’re eating post-Thanksgiving. Are you still having a carb fest? If so, stop. Second, are you trying to lose weight or lose fat? Since you’ve been in the gym, have you been lifting? Is an increase in muscle partially to blame for weight gain or is it this potential carb fest?

Well the muscle gain may be responsible for some but I doubt I’d put any on, ive only been going s couple months. I’m slacking off on carbs. Trying to stay at or near 20. I’ve put about 11lbs back on over the last 2 months.

I guess I’ll take some body measurements today as a baseline to go from.

I’d just been using the scale before.

Some folks might find it helpful to keep a food journal - every meal, snack, or otherwise could go in here and you might find hidden cheats you had been subconsciously ignoring (not saying you are, just that this is somewhat common).

I have to get back to tracking.

That might do the trick. Watch out for sneaky carbs and try to eat whole foods… avoid processed stuff because you can’t always trust the labels. You’ve been successful with keto before so you know how to do it right.
