Any doctors out there? Have been strict Keto for almost two months, yet blood ketone levels are only in the .5 - 1.0 level. Wondering if my taking TriLipix (fenofibric acid) could be having an effect.
Will TriLipix affect blood ketone levels?
After a quick look around PubChem, I don’t see any mechanism for it to affect ketogenesis, which is, after all, regulated by the insulin/glucagon ratio. The only mechanism by which fenofibrate might affect ketogenesis is if hepatitis or cirrhosis were to occur as a side effect.
Thanks Paul.
Perhaps I’m just eating a bit more protein that I should. Nevertheless, am down six pounds in two months and feeling noticeably better, mentally and physically.
The charts online all point to ketones above 1.5 for faster weight loss though. Is that true?
Couldn’t say, as I’ve never seen such charts. Might be true, might not, but I’ve never heard it in lectures by Dr. Phinney or Prof. Volek, whom I would have expected to make a point of mentioning such a thing.
