I get so confused. Everyone I think Iv mastered keto my body is like nah. Last week all I ate was hard boiled eggs, bacon , sasause and cheese and my ketone moniter had me in the 3 range (which was high) I was going long periods of time without eating and eating like a few bites and being full- one day I even didn’t eat at all because I wasn’t hungry. Fast forward to this week and I can’t get anything right. I though hey stick to what you were eating since your body is reacting well but that is not the case. Low ketone levels .5-1.0 and feeling hungry . Why the switch up . I don’t mind eating the same exact thing every day if I know it will keep me in a good state but damn my body keeps changing things up it seems like
Why does my body hate me
How long have you been doing Keto?
I was see-sawing all over the place the first 6 weeks or so - a few stable days and then weirdness again.
We women also have hormonal changes throughout the month to consider!
Also, if you’re eating the same thing over and over, you might be missing certain vitamins/ minerals/ nutrients and so your body produces cravings to get you out of your monotone nutrient intake?
I sometimes think all the testing cause more concern than need be. All we have to do is create the life style that we are going to eat right, if we do then the body will adjust to what is correct. KCKO
I have never tested a single thing, I eat what I believe to be right, even cheat a bunch. and in two months I am 4 holes in on my belt. My belt is only gauge I have to go by, do not even own a scale.
Wow! You’re persistant!
I’d have given up after 2 years of trouble!
Are you doing Keto for weightloss? If so, how much have you lost in those 2 years?
Are you having NSV’s?
me too
I say who is doing the feelings me or the meter.
What If I feel good and the meter does not
I’m on keto for weightloss. Want to loose 20-30 more pounds and have lost roughly 15 so far
Well, you could still be fat-adapting, which will have you going through all kinds of weird stuff and weird phases.
Plus, with the weightloss, your body is releasing the hormones stored in your fat cells, so you will be getting lots of weirdness from that too.
Plus, your body will be doing recomposition, so that’ll be creating all kinds of instability too.
I’m definitely going through the first and the last and I am going to give myself 6 months for everything to sort itself out and settle down.
(I’m not doing Keto for weightloss, so I’m not getting the added hormones from fat cells, but Keto as such also changes your hormones, so I know I’m going through that part of it too.)
Put your meter in the drawer and leave it there for 3 months - in that time, eat fat and protein and avoid carbs as much as possible.
Ketones aren’t some magic goal, they’re a tiny piece of the pie, and chasing them is going to lead you to more frustration. Just keep calm, keto on, and stay strict with your carb intake (or lack thereof). Results will come.
Yes, bodies change things up! that’s a feature, not a bug.
I think you have the subject and object reversed in this title, and that you would do well to find a bit more respect for your body as you try this new path.
[That sounds a bit harsh! I don’t mean it to be…
Our bodies - the organs, the many systems, the hormones - there’s so much going on, and to reduce a path to a ketone number or a scale number as if that’s the only measure just seems very short-sighted. Most folks will find that hunger comes and goes, and we have relatively little idea of what’s going on under the hood during those changes.]
My hunger and ketones change as my hormones change throughout my cycle each month. You may find you get hungrier just before or during your period. Also, you can even drop out of ketosis during your period. Finally, 0.5 to 1.0 mmol/L is still in nutritional ketosis and you may find as you get fat adapted, that is where your readings will stay.
