Why do we call it a diet

Funny after a while you get it.This is a health change not a diet.I seen articles still shouting high fat kill your brain. This way of eating has been here for a lot of years. Before big Drug factors came along,we use food and herbs. We keto believers know this is for a better way to health, loss of weight is a plus effect.I do think not all people should be pure keto But with heath issues it works better than pills.High ketones help fight cancers sugar dementia and a host of problems. If health normal weight working then I say a mild or dirty keto lifestyle may work. You got to understand it a heath lifestyle not a diet.

One definition of diet is basically just what one eats.

That can be a healthy diet. An unhealthy diet. A keto diet. A vegan diet. A weight loss diet. Etc.

For me after I mulled though 2 years of Keto doing dumb thing listing to people on You Tube being gullible buying what they were selling I learned this was truly simple a lifestyle a basic eating fasting sleeping enough to keep body and mind in tune nothing hard here learn Keto cooking styles adapt them to what you enjoy eating if need be you can cheat just do not make it part of diet listen to your body if it smell different ask yourself why if you can not fast ask yourself why you will learn a lot by heeding what your body does and your craving will teach you what’s lacking or needed that’s mostly why I moved away from the Diet word it messes with people

150 years ago, the blink of an eye, we’re all farmers, sleep time is governed by length of day, we want all the animal based food possible, we walk everywhere, chores and work are arduous. No cars, no electricity, no central heating. We make sure our animals get activity and nutritious food but don’t provide the same for ourselves? What do we expect?

The word diet has some baggage so many people dislike using it but keto has rules about our eating so it’s a diet per definition. It doesn’t mean it can’t be a lifestyle, it doesn’t mean it’s necessarily a weight-loss diet… But it has some rules (about one but that one has a big impact on how we eat. and for many, keto has more rules anyway).

My own keto is a diet, well, multiple diets as I sometimes do “normal” keto, sometimes carnivore, I use different rule sets at different times. But there are rules so it’s a diet. And a lifestyle too as it’s not temporal (I just go off sometimes but come back soon, that’s certain. unless if I die when I am off).

That’s why I call it a diet, because it’s obviously a diet as far as I know. And it’s not a lifestyle for everyone. Some people just do it for a while.

That’s why we all understand we set our rules I follow Keto mostly meats and eggs cheese snacks are nuts and pork rinds I love casseroles on keto they work well yes keto has rules but we are learning more each day about those rules and each person understands their goals some use it as a diet I use mine as a lifestyle to keep me healthy a diet to means food restrictions for starvations for weight loss feels negative to me but we train our body as well as our minds I like positive words and reachable goals

Keto is not a dogma, there is plenty of room for individual personality traits as manifested in the many versions of it. Everyone can find their own preferences, other than staying below a certain amount of carbs (and that varies individually too) there are no rules. You can stick with any number of variations and count this or that, or you can ignore all that and make it your own.

Personally, I am probably a hedonist with zero self discipline. I just like to enjoy life and the older I get, the more I want to do so. I am not necessarily interested in a long life, I want a good life. On Keto, I can enjoy life more than with other ways of eating, because I feel better. Make me count a bunch of stuff and measure things and I’ll be running for the hills. That’s not for me, I would feel jailed.

So, apart from the real, basic meaning of diet as just food consumed, I don’t consider Keto a diet. You can successfully repair your health, and lose weight if you want, by finding a healthy way to eat for yourself. Keto is a guide, not a rule book.

Two years into this keto thing and grudgingly have to admit it is a lifestyle, even though this lazy bachelor wishes it weren’t so. What makes it that is not just the food prep. It’s also the exercise/activity the food fuels. Put together it dominates the day. It’s totally worth it, not so much for heath as vanity. At the moment I’m an acceptably lean, muscular 160 lbs (a bit more than 13% body fat). I love it.

No reason a diet can’t be for life. I think some people get caught on the semantics because they associate it with other yo-yo diets with calorie restriction, etc.

Call it whatever works for you & helps you keep at it.

Personally, I have no problem telling people that I am on an unusual diet. When people ask me how long I intend to be on it, I usually say that I had best stick to it for life with perhaps the very occasional cheat day planned months in advance if I ever have them.

I think that we are on the right track for better health kanetuck. I guess time will tell though. Personally, I intend on outliving a good number of naysayers if for no other reason than I am stubborn!
