why does lab consider a trace of ketones in urine test abnormal ???

Ha! it probably is abnormal
Normal for our physiology, just not normal for modern humans (unfortunately).

My guess is that it’s to keep an eye on ketone levels for T1 folks b/c ketoacidosis is dangerous.

Ha ha ha ha. Mine said the same. I had opted to not tell the doc that I was doing keto. I didn’t want the earful.

Later in an email in response to my labs I mentioned it, and her response was that everything should return to normal when I stop.

My high ketones, high LDLc were flagged

I remember the first time I went to the hospital when I went keto the originally in 2013. They took blood tests and urine samples. They marked my “moderate” ketone levels initially as an issue.
