I’ve always had a love affair with food. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I’m 58, and until I hit my fifties I had a fantastic metabolism which had allowed me for all my adult life to eat what I wanted without gaining weight…
Not so any more…
So, after my first week on a Keto diet, how on earth am I finding it so incredibly easy? I keep thinking I’m doing something wrong. No carb or sugar cravings whatsoever, feeling full after a small place of food, no bloaty feelings anymore, and I swear I’ve actually lost over 2kg in 5 days…
I dont feel as if I have keto breath, not feeling any I’ll effects at all, and I’ve just ordered some keto sticks to ensure I’m in ketosis, because it’s just too plain sailing…I’m loving it…but is this all psychological… it seems too good to be true
Why am I finding this so easy
Welcome to the forum, Jan, and I hope that this awesome trend continues for you. Just bare in mind that you lose very quickly at the very beginning so don’t get discouraged if the rate of weight loss slows down soon. I am happy for you that you are doing so well though!
Apparently, there aren’t very many of us around.
You Unicorns that are lucky enough to skip the massive cravings for sugar and carbs that many of us had to deal with at the beginning of Keto… you are one of the lucky ones!
It happens with some people. I continued to eat the same amount of food as before on low-carb but I had no problems either (after low-carb. I couldn’t do keto freshly out of high-carb but when I could, it was very smooth). In the contrary, keto solved some of my problems right away and it felt so good after some days I knew I won’t be able to abandon it for long, ever.
So nope, it’s not too good, it is truth for the luckier ones.
Though it’s not 100% sure all your weeks will be like that. But it’s pretty promising, it’s usually the beginning that is problematic. Except maybe the super easy satiation, I usually have that in the beginning but I hadn’t in on keto, just on OMAD and on carnivore. And it’s good it changes later as eating extremely little long term is bad especially for the ones who don’t have the vast amounts of excess fat to provide lots of energy.
My favorite thing about Keto is getting rid of the bloated feeling. Ive been on Keto more than once and have also sworn more than once that I wouldnt go back to the carbs because of how much better you feel without them. I’ve been on it less than a week and have already dropped two belt notches just from the bloating going away. The energy is also great. I randomly get stuff done that I had put off forever just because I feel better. You are right, the feeling is super.
I also do pretty well when I switch over to Keto, so you are not alone.
I was the same. No keto flu, no carb cravings. 12 weeks in and still no cravings BUT the force of habit sometimes gets the better of me (e.g, a snack late at night).
Appreciate it for what it is and as long as it lasts - we may be singing a different tune down the track.
That was my experience as well right from the beginning. What a deliverance. I am so grateful for keto; I consider it an answered prayer. The only difference is that in the beginning when I was eating 2-3 meals a day, I’d have substantial meals that filled me up and were satisfying. Now, generally, we eat OMAD that consists of a decent portion of meat, veggie and/or salad. Delicious.
I am always happy to hear when people find this so easy.
My first reaction was I"I can eat eggs, butter, cheese, bacon and sausage for breakfast?" I can do this!
I felt a bit off a couple of days but nothing like a touch of the flu. My energy during morning runs suffered for months but it came back better than ever.
You are finding it easy because this is probably how we evolved to eat!! Happy happy plain sailing. Don’t rock the boat.
That is amazing that you feel so good so quickly and easily! Welcome! I’ve been here (on and off) for a year and it is a great space for information and support.
The biggest thing I have learned is keto doesn’t have to be hard. Don’t get me wrong, eating out or going to parties can sometimes be a little tricky, and explaining it to others can be a minefield, but you don’t need gimmicks like shakes or “traditional” meals (meat/veg/starch). It is LIBERATING! Some salami and cream cheese, a piece of chicken thigh and cabbage, broccoli dipped in guac, bacon, cheese, eggs! If I had been a real slave to carbs before, I might have found it harder, but I was the woman who would pull off and throw away “extra” bun or take the cheese and leave the cracker.
(My downfall would have been if I had to omit cheese, so if bread is someone’s kryptonite, I can see how the idea of omitting it from their diet would be daunting.)
I hope you have great success!
