Why am I CRANKY?

(Cailyn Mc Cauley) #1

Today I’ve had Keto Bullet coffee for breakfast.

Lunch was 2 eggs with chorizo, avocado, sour cream, panela cheese and jalapeno.

All of a sudden I’m cranky and wanting to cry?
This is the first time I haven’t been Keto-Freakin’-Happy?

What’s Up?

Aunt Flo in town? Lol! Maybe dealing with some hormonal changes (since keto is know for helping to balance hormones) or maybe your S/O keeps sniffing, and bouncing in his seat and you’ve just HAD ENOUGH!!! Lol! I’m sorry, I hope you start feeling better soon!!

Drink enough water today? The crankiness could be dehydration. Though the crying - not so much. But it’s worth a big glass of water just in case.

Agreed about it sounding hormonal. I now eat pumpkin seeds to try to stave off the emotions (and chocolate cravings) for shark week. Maybe you could try those too if they’re handy?

Wish I could help more. I know that feeling only too well and feel for you!

Hope some of the Keto Vets can help with guessing the cause
Good luck!

This was me today, at least the cranky part. For me I felt shaky testing my bg found it higher than normal after my coffee with mct. Later in the day after no food it was 20 points higher still and that was after a hiit workout. I ended up breaking my fast and ate some cheese and liverwurst which resulted in it going to normal and then going up 10 points again. So weird. But whenever my bg is higher or lower than normal I feel irritable.

Hope you feel better soon.

Sadly that ship sailed when I was in my early forties. BUT ya never know, it certainly was MY first thought.

I’m at the grocery store thinking, “Hmmm, maybe I need some fat.” NOOO! Nothing is jumping into my mouth or kicking my taste buds into action.

Very much thinking I either need to start a fast or eat a steak!

Oh, I will bet that might be it. Before KETO, I drank 150 ounces of water a day. Since KETO I get in about 80.

Just checked my water bottle and it’s still full from this am! Oops…I’ll try the hydration.

I agree about it sounding hormonal, because it feels that way.

Good point. I’m not Diabetic so I don’t test my blood. But I am Insulin Resistant, wonder if I should be testing? If, with what?

Thanks!

Hey Cailyn, I’m glad you might have found the culprit for at least some of it! Happy hydrating. When I’m dehydrated I’m too cognitively foggy and cranky to really think clearly and figure out that I’m dehydrated, so I keep this link on the bookmark bar of my browser: see above. It’s cute and straightforward and surprisingly true in most cases for me.

Now we just need to make a Keto-specific one…

All the best!

I am not diabetic either I just like data. My typical fasting bg is 62, goes up to 72 after a meal. If I’m in a feeding period fbg is 10 points higher. Today it started at 78 jumped to 98, down to 64, then to 74… weird.

I bought a monitor on Amazon for cheap just to learn how different foods effect my bg.

When I’m irritable I take milk thistle which supports liver function. In minutes I can feel the homicidal feelings abate, it’s very helpful
