So i know i have become a profound closet Lily’s Chocolate eater. Today is my first day of sobriety from it. For some reason, i crave it but my body HATES it. Aka… feels awful… i get tired and bloated and sinus drippy.

So im trying to think of snacks or things that i can eat that taste good but get away from chocolate. I am trying my hardest to stay away from dairy because my body doesnt tolerate it well… So ive come up with a possible solution…

Peanut Butter or Fatso Butter? with cucumber or celery.

But i hear PB even though unsweetened…can still be considered evil. So which do you think is the lesser of the 2 evil’s in regards to diet and weight loss? Would you choose the PB or the Chocolate?

PS- I hate PB and Chocolate together…nuh-uh…we not even going there.

Sounds like you have a mild allergy to chocolate, so my 2 cents is to not eat that.

Nothing wrong with peanut butter. For that matter, my favorite lifting day jet fuel is honey roasted peanuts. It still has way less sugar than most chocolate. More carbs, but an oz or two still fits in my 20g budget easily enough.

YMMV

It must be your choice… I would choose chocolate, my own as it’s way less carby and my body never complained unlike when I ate (too much) peanuts, it felt slightly wrong. I dislike peanut butter for some reason, I love the taste of roasted salted peanuts, though…
But I do carnivore now and I skip both  My desires are totally different on extreme low-carb. But I will add chocolate earlier than peanuts, I think. Safer, better… And I consider it healthier but that’s somewhat individual. And I am a huge cocoa fan. Nothing can replace it (though coffee has some chance. cocoa butter has none, I don’t even like that). It’s best when it’s chocolate but cocoa powder is half win already…

Did you tried the proper ingredients of a chocolate separately? It seems you have some problems with some ingredient but maybe a simple chocolate doesn’t need it… I know nothing about Lily’s Chocolate, though.

Amounts matter a lot too, of course. If a tiny amount is enough, you can get away with a carbier item and it probably won’t hurt you as much except if you are really sensitive to something. And if you can stop yourself eating a lot of unneeded fat, it’s good for your fat-loss too. I probably ruined many days with too much chocolate and peanuts in the past (both, of course, if I mess up things, I often do it with a bang). They satiate me unwell (too little protein) so I can eat a lot of both. You should know what is the case with you. If a food triggers overeating, try to avoid it or learn to handle it better.

What about a peanut butter ‘fudge’? This is my recipe:

100g cocoa butter
150g peanut butter
4tbsp HWC
Few (10-15?)drops liquid stevia

Melt cacao butter in saucepan, take of the heat and stir in the peanut butter and stevia. When PB is incorporated stir in HWC. Pour into a lined shallow tray and refrigerate until firm.

I would say the chocolate is less evil. PB carbs add up quickly and the fiber is bloating. I eat about an ounce of Lily’s almost every day with a few pecans. The erythritol is harmless for my blood sugar. I’ve come to the conclusion that I have to have a little something “sweet” every day. It’s working for me and I can’t binge on it or I’ll get sick.

Hello Heather,

If you like nuts, they are easily turned in to butter, nut butter. I find that Brazil nuts and Macadamia nuts make the best butter. Put the nuts in a high speed blender like a Nutribullet or Ninja blender. Blend them until they turn mushy. Use a spatula to bring the sides down and blend again. Do this several times. You will end up with nutty butter. This is Keto and if you can put up with nuts will taste great.

I get my chocolate fix with bulletproof cocoa and I feel so much better than when I was just eating 85% chocolate.
I use 2tbs 100% cocoa or cacoa powder, 2 tbsp cacao butter and erythritol. About a 1/16th tsp xantham gum (optional) makes it thick and luxurious. Put everything in a flask add 300 mls boiling water and whizz with a stick blender.
A generous topping of thick squirty cream if you are a big kid like me😋.
3g net carbs of pure joy.
Ps and 10g fibre! Put the broccoli down :no_mouth:

I make my own chocolate that is quite easy and tasty!
1/2 C Cocoa Powder
3 T Swerve Confectioner Sweetener
1/4 C Coconut Oil (melted)
1 t Vanilla
Stir to blend then drop by spoonfuls onto parchment lined sheet. Chill. It makes @15 chocolate shaped discs! Store in fridge since coconut oil melts easily above @ 74°.

Hmm… You crave chocolate, but yet you say it makes you feel tired, bloated and impacts your sinuses. Also, you cannot tolerate dairy well. Sounds like a textbook case of SIBO to me. In this case, the answer to your question would sadly be NO chocolate and definitely NO peanut butter (peanuts are legumes; they feed the bad bacteria in your gut which in turn ferment them and cause bloating alongside a myriad of other SIBO symptoms).

If I were you I’d get a SIBO breath test if it’s not too out of hand and go from there.
