Which is Easier, Keto or Carnivore WOE?

(Davy) #1

That is, in the short term AND long term?

I think this is pretty subjective. For those who have major plant food sensitivities, carnivore is probably easier because it doesn’t trigger those sensitivities. (I have a peanut allergy and I find life ā€œeasierā€ when I don’t eat peanuts, for obvious reasons.)

Practically speaking, true carnivore permits a much smaller subset of foods (meat and animal products only) but some people who go full carnivore say that they don’t want any non-carnivore foods. So YMMV.

I think it’s the kind of question that you need to answer yourself through testing and experimentation.

You don’t have to make an emergency decision for life. I assume you already eat KETO. If Carnivore intrigues you try it. Decide what works for you because my opinion on this is useless to you. n=1 as we say. Some find the limited food restrictive and others find freedom in it. Some love vegetables and it’s a big deal to quit eating them and others never really liked any vegetables. I can do without vegetables in general but I love spices and hot peppers. This might make Carnivore more sustainable for me but I would still eat be eating plants. So not Carnivore. :cowboy_hat_face:

I like this!! It is so true. Life does not have to be black and white at all, there are gray areas to allow one to change and experiment on themselves as needed.

It is so personal truly. Some want certain foods and allow them. Others do not want plant foods ever and go into carnivore.

I walked it all. I did regular LC. Extreme LC. Into eating ONLY Atkins Induction foods listed from the original Atkins 1972 book. For me it was find what works. How I felt. Where I did my best.

My best time on plan was Induction foods listed from Dr Atkins 1972 original book. It was all the meat and seafood you wanted with a small salad or a pickle. Eat only ā€˜this’ for Induction into the Atkins lifestyle.

I found when I ate this way on Induction I flourished. Then one day I said who needs this nasty little salad? I hate a pickle…HAHA…All it did was upset my tummy LOL So I delved into carnivore and found my best way.

So it was years of this and that, try a plan, leave it, try another, change up the eating and more before I found where I fit best. Walked into carnivore and haven’t left it.

So it is all about you. Can you drop all plants forever? Do you want them in your life and menu from time to time?

I don’t think there is an ā€˜easy’ when making monster eating changes LOL A lot of us had hard times finding where we fit and what eating suited us in the end to make it long term.

just some personal experiences I went thru to find what worked for me.

Personally carnivore is way easier but it’s not as effective for me as keto.

(Davy) #6

Thanks all for the input. Today I’m going Carnivore for the day and see how it goes. One thing I already see that’ll be so nice, is not having to record and chart everything. I know what has carbs, so don’t even have to record those.

So @Shortstuff . . . why is keto more effective for you?

Ms DNC 85% Cacao… Don’t think I"ll be able to leave blueberries, almonds, bananas, spinach, strawberries forever, so will probably go in and out of Carnivore and Keto; that’s my story now, and I’m sticking to it. :sunglasses:

I don’t know the science behind it, but on keto I lose fat more easily and feel better, while on carnivore I seem to be gaining fat - it’s been several months now too, so should be adapted to it. I keep on with mostly carnivore though as it is just so convenient.

For me, neither works on its own as well as the two together. I keep keto-carnivore. If my fat isn’t high enough and I’m not ketogenic while eating a carnivore diet then I feel less well, hungrier and I will gain weight.
