Where y’all all from?

Do you Aussies really call the rainy season “the wet”? If so then it is always “wet” in Louisiana.

Christchurch NZ - very new to keto and have yet to meet anyone doing low carb here. This forum certainly fills a gap!

Rain is good…at least it will push our bushfires back a bit.

I have seen at least one if not two Kiwis on here. Keep reading.

Only in the tropical north of the country where the wet and dry seasons are more extreme.

btw your question reminded me of this seasonal anecdote poking fun at the US-

Australia- We call the season Autumn from the French word ‘autompne’ and later the Latin word ‘Autumnus’.
USA- WE CALL IT FALL BECAUSE LEAF FALL DOWN.

:rofl::wink:

From the UK (the Midlands) but live near Seattle in the USA.

Central Florida (the C FL in my ID here), about 30 miles south of the Kennedy Space Center and 2 miles from the Atlantic. One of a handful of places in the world where you can go outside and watch rockets going into space. It has been a few times a month lately.

In Louisiana we use the terms autumn and fall pretty much interchangeably and whichever rolls off the tongue the best.

We say this is “fine fair fall weather” or “ I have to go rake all these awful autumn leaves”. Also, college football is a fall sport but we also look forward to the autumnal equinox for a break with the heat and humidity.

The first time I heard of “the wet” was in the wonderful movie “Australia” which the critics were somewhat unkind to. But I am fond of it and own it in my Blu-Ray collection. Found it to be very entertaining and have watched it at least four times.

I’m sure you Aussies see the inaccuracies in it, just as I see the dumb shit in Vietnam War movies.

Southwest Arizona - along the Colorado River.

We’re close to each other!

#34

There’s a lot of ‘cultural cringe’ here in Australia where we are almost embarrassed and apologetic to the rest of the world about our movies (TV and music as well), especially ones rife with Aussie cliches like ‘Australia’ and ‘Crocodile Dundee’ etc.

#35

I’d never apologise for Chopper or The Castle though.

#36

Or Mad Max Fury Road!

#37

Haven’t seen that one yet - I need to watch something other than Keto lectures :slightly_smiling_face:

#38

Man you’ve gotta watch it. It’s the pinnacle of Australian cinema. On my top 10 list of all time favourite movies.

#39

Noted  Will seek it out.
