Ok so I don’t understand. Why am I not hungry. I thought y’all were crazy when everyone kept saying hunger goes away. But it really has. This is only day 7 and normally I can eat a ton and still feel hungry but I findmy self eating halfas much at lunch then not really even wanting to eat dinner. Why is that??? I still want to eat very badly but I’m not really hungry
Where is my Hunger
You are not hungry, because the lower insulin level that results from not eating carbohydrate has allowed the leptin produced by your fat cells to register in your brain that you have enough energy and don’t need to eat. When the fat cells get full, they signal the brain by releasing leptin, but high levels of insulin block the receptors in the hypothalamus that would normally register the presence of the leptin.
So when fasting I won’t really feel hungry because I got plenty of fat on me and my body will just pull energy from that right?
I still get hunger pains from time to time on extended fasts, but nothing like what you get eating a high-carb diet. And they go away if I ignore them.
Did you ever think you would forget to eat??? Me, neither. But it happened to me about 6 weeks in.
Wait until you’ve fasted for 48 hours and still can’t image eating lol.
18 weeks and still not able to fast. Hopefully the next few months I will make some progress.
You don’t have much body fat to lose, so probably your body telling you not to fast.
My husband is just now losing his morning hunger and he’s been keto with me for 8 months. He did a 72-hr with me on his first fast back in June and lost too much weight and it was very hard on him, so he sticks to the 36-hr ones now for autophagy.
You may never be a faster other than accidentally and that is ok, too!
ive been 12 hrs so far but im only on day 8 or so. the only reason I ate tho was cuz dam I just wanted to eat. I usually eat just because it feels right. also I dont wanna push my self to early on. I feel my self get light headed several times a day for about 20 min at a time so im just goin to ease in to the fasting thing.
im pretty sure I could go all day pretty easy. I dunno how much from there I could do tho.
is there any suggestions on when is the right time to start fasting like how soon in to doing keto should I incorporate it?
today was my first day working out since I started keto. I was walking/jogging 4 miles a day for about an hour. today I kinda eased back to 30 min and just took it kinda easy. I felt pretty weak afterwards and a little light headed but not to bad overall I think.
@Bruno77 As you may have read in other threads, lightheadedness is usually a symptom of lack of sodium, so eat more salt. Aim for 2.5 teaspoons a day, between what’s already in the food and what you add. It will help your performance little, as well, though of course your performaince is generally going to suck until you are fully fat-adapted (takes something like 6-8 weeks). You are right not to stress your body too much right now, but your performance should be back in the groove or better once you are fat-adapted. Just ride it out in the meantime. We recommend the same with fasting; in other words just don’t pile too much stress on your body all at once. After fat-adaptation (don’t worry; you’ll know), it’s a different story.
