Where have you been all my life?

food

(Carl Keller) #21

I used to hate mushrooms. Now I can say that I like them. There’s plenty of other foods like cauliflower, brussels sprouts and artichokes that I wasn’t crazy about, but now I actually buy and eat them fairly regularly.

Kerrygold butter and cheese
Erythritol

I always like to drink the pickle water.

It could mean that I have low stomach acid

Pork rinds!

(Kristin) #25

I need to do this. Last steak I had out was good, but I would have been happier with more fat on it!

Oh, how my tastes have changed.

(Carl Keller) #26

Better and cheaper to go pick out and cook your own. The fat (not the fat on the outside of the steak) is what gives meat the best flavor, tenderness and moistness. Steaks that have the best (fat) marbling are ribeyes and some new york strips. It’s the intramuscular fat melting during the cooking process that marinates the steak from the inside out that makes it the tastiest!

Sorry, didn’t mean to ramble. I love steaks. Every time I go to the grocery store, I look at the steaks and which have the best marbling, even if I am not buying steaks. :stuck_out_tongue:

You know you’re keto when…

You’re scoping out steaks in the market.

Ume plum vinegar! This stuff is so delicious and satisfies my salt cravings so well! It is salty, fruity but not too acidic tasting. It is my new favourite dressing; I mix it with Bragg’s soy sauce, chili paste and sesame oil.

Oh, yea, my new new to me food, crisping salmon skin.

My wife has kicked the crisping process to the back deck.

(Carl Keller) #30

I need to get some of this. I could make a nice plum vinaigrette. 3 parts vinegar to 1 part evoo, add chopped basil, garlic, minced shallots and salt and pepper. Whisk or blend till emulsified. Thank you for the idea!

Fasting😄
Love it.
Period.

#33

I love fasting, too!

Ironic, that not eating is a part of a healthy way of eating.

Who knew!

#34

Lots of recipes on the net and Rebel Creamy makes great Keto ice cream. Love it!

#35

Ribeyes,

I went 58 years eating very little beef and almost no fatty cuts.

(less is more, more or less) #36

Another new delight: heavy whipping cream in my tea or coffee. +1 for the reactions I get.

(Sophie) #37

As long as you aren’t doing it in the Kiln!

(Sophie) #38

I used to be put off by straight up mayo. I’d use it on salads and stuff but I was never an avid spoon licker like I am after Keto!

And I’m with @OldDoug on the butter too! I never had the desire to sample the butter but now…I’ve been known to make my own!

#39

This device looks interesting! Where did you find it?

(Doug) #40

Sophie, aside from everything else - that is just such a beautiful picture.

(Sophie) #41

Thanks! I’m glad you like it. But you should taste the butter I’ve made from it…to Die For!!!
