Glucose is higher in the morning, lower in the afternoon. Ketones are lower in the morning, higher in the afternoon. You choose.
When I test for glucose, which I still do occasionally, I find it more interesting (and valuable) to test morning, after eating and again in the evening. Then I don’t bother for a week or two.
With your ketone monitor I think I’d do the same.
Testing for ketones in urine is not necessary or accurate. The ketones you are measuring are ‘spilled’ in the urine, all it tells you is that you are in ketosis. The color of the strip will be dependent on how hydrated you are. Really just a waste of money. If you are below 20 grams of carbs you are in ketosis. Fat adapted is what we are really shooting for anyway!
I actually still like using my keto strips (urine). I pay no attention to the depth of color, it’s a yes or no question I’m asking: can I consume this / this quantity and stay in ketosis. It’s helping to fine tune my daily carb limit and other dietary choices.
As far as morning or evening, it might depend on what you’re trying to discover.
This is what I have found. If you test in the evening, you should get the highest readings, in general.
