When did you STOP fasting? *Reaching Goals*

(Katie the Quiche Scoffing Stick Ninja ) #1

I started out at 80.8kg
I currently weigh 65.7.kg
A total loss of 15.1kg or 33.2lbs
I am 20 weeks in, have been adapted since week 6
I’ve been extended fasting for up to 72 hours a few times now
Been eating OMAD since week 5
I am starting a 5x5 progressive strength building program today
I have noticed it’s getting a bit harder to fast
According to my calculations, I roughly have around 13kg of body fat at 20%.

When did you stop fasting as you approached your goal?
It’s difficult to put on more than 1kg of lean mass per month, so in my mind it seems easier to lose weight than to put on muscle.

I am getting to the point where I don’t care what I weigh, but rather how I look. So I’d prefer to start building muscle definition while making newbie gains and hopefully lose the last few kg.

How hard is to fast once you reach your goal weight?
I want to continue fasting for the health benefits, but don’t understand how I can do that with bodyfat % so low?

I am going to try one more 72 hour fast over this weekend after I work out and refeed today. But I think that will be it for me.
The last few have been difficult and 48 seems far more comfortable.

Thoughts?

Fasting is not just about weight loss. I have been at maintenance for over a year, I still do several EX fasts and IFing each month. I don’t see myself not doing some fasting for the rest of my life. I like how I feel when I do it.

As long as you have the strength, etc for training, just do what feels right for you. Eat, don’t eat, whatever works.

That’s why I’d like to continue doing it, but can’t seem to go as long as I used to.
How long do you fast in maintenance? I want to continue reaping the benefits, and might alternate between fasting and feasting.
I have never been too hungry but when I worked out last week I was starving so I think that might work.

Maybe try a fat fast, coffee with heavy whipping cream or something else, still keeping insulin low but also have a little fuel

I mix it up a lot, most are in the 32-40 hr. range. I also do IF at least 4 days a week. I also do the monthly Zornfast because the group fast is such fun. I drink coffee, usually a couple of cups with a dash of HWC. If I have bone broth cooked up, I will often have a cup of that with my husband while he eats a meal. Since I am at my goal weight some fasts I have a few nuts when I “think” I want to break the fast, I can usually go to at least the next mealtime.

If I start a fast and it doesn’t feel good I stop refeed and start another fast when I feel more like not eating for a while.

For me, this route above

The key word is “ feasting “ I just eat until Not full
Can easily become ravenous, or eating just to eat
Been there, done that
Not all bad
Just for me, not worth it

Kinda like having 3-4 full plates at hometown buffet in one sitting :flushed:
And planning my dessert bar attack. I needed a master battle plan and strategy
Timing was key…
Like WAY back in the dayS …Yikes!!

Just mix it up?
Salt about 30 minutes b4 my workout
Salt about 30 minutes after my workout

Good Luck
