What's your favorite keto snack?

#1

Something to eat in the morning, ya’know, maybe on the way to work?

#2

Black iced coffee

#3

I don’t eat in the morning but later I can’t go wrong with some roasted pork if you ask me…
The time of the day doesn’t really matter, if you are hungry, eat food, whatever you like and good for you…?

When I eat in the morning, which is very rare these days, bacon and eggs are quick and easy to fix. Otherwise, it’s meat left over from the night before.

If you really need to eat in the car, what about pork rinds, or pepperoni, or some kind of aged cheese. Or all three? Also, bacon-wrapped cheese and cheese-wrapped bacon make good snacks (of course, you’d have to prepare them ahead of time).

Leftovers if I have to eat in the morning. But that’s rare.

#6

If I need to eat very clean, I have my eggy sponge cakes I use for bread. I often wrap some little dry sausage or some other meat or cheese into them (they even come apart easily)… But I have some carnivore biscuits too, egg and cheese… They are clean enough to eat.
Or you may drink a yogurt if you don’t need many calories. It’s a bit carby but some people can drink a smallish amount and it depends on your other food how much you can afford.

I don’t know anything about you. Which kind of keto you do? What do you like? How much and what macros do you need in the morning…?

I’d do a hot buttered coffee. Shake in a tupperware container so it gets frothy - or if you like iced coffee, you could make it the night before and refrigerate, then shake in the morning and pour in your travel mug. When I was working, I found that that held me comfortably until lunch or my evening meal (once I was fat adapted).

I like prosciutto di parma. It’s not exactly a bargain snack, but it’s so easy to grab and go. I usually get it from the deli section, which requires me to take a number and talk to someone, which, thank you very much, I’d rather not. They do have a pretty good sized, double packaged option at Costco for a decent price, but ugh, Costco. My second choice is Genoa Salami.

Prosciutto is nice, too, but I really love pepperoni. Yum! It comes both as sticks and sliced, found in a bin at my local supermarket, so no waiting. There is also pre-cooked bacon, but it’s not cheap. I’d rather pre-cook my own, which isn’t too hard in the oven.

#10

A circular slice of ham off the bone with a slice of goat cheese on top, then roll up the ham. Or a hard boiled egg with home-made mayo or low carb biltong or parmesan crisps (just parmesan, no filler).

I’m heading to Europe in late October, maybe I should pack some pepperoni in my backpack so I don’t have to rely on gross airplane meals. I think it’s fine not being refrigerated, right?

I bake 1-2 lbs of bacon (1lb at a time) on a large, deep cookie sheet (350F, flipping every 10 minutes) - also has the benefit of giving you amazing bacon nectar (grease) for cooking.

I then put the overlaying criss-crossed “waffles” of bacon into large ziplock freezer bags and put them into the fridge or freezer.

Not that anyone should be snacking - but if you do, bacon IS the perfect (keto) snack!

Also - you’ll be amazed how much more you’ll use bacon as an ingredient when you have it pre-cooked in your fridge/freezer - not having to go to the trouble of frying it up.

That’s a really fabulous idea : )

I don’t snack, but having that bacon on hand at any time seems like a good thing to me!

#14

Snacks eaten alone are tricky to do with something not prepared by myself from simple ingredients, almost everything is way too salty. Bacon is insane but most sausages and many cheeses are overkill too. But it’s me, other people handle salt better, even I did before.
I always can have some eggs but I already mentioned that. Even hard-boiled eggs are clean enough to eat with hand…

It’s pretty much okay. It isn’t refrigerated in my supermarket, I notice.

Americans tend to over-refrigerate. When our last fridge was dying, the repairman remarked on the amount of things my sister thought needed to be in the fridge that he wouldn’t have bothered to put there.

P.S.—I did learn that eggs, which normally don’t need to be kept cold, will spoil easily once washed, which is the custom in this country. So in the U.S., keep your eggs in the fridge. Elsewhere, they will be better if left out.

#16

My eggs are never in the fridge and they last a month. IDK if they are washed but they are very clean… I don’t have room in the fridge for 10-20 eggs let alone 100-200 so I am glad.

Like what? I am curious
I only keep eggs, unopened cream bags/boxes and very few vegs (the ones lasting for several weeks) outside. And my opened condiments.
I only keep things in the fridge which need it as we need a TON of stuff there and even with a bigger fridge, it’s usually full…

The two things I personally would not put in the fridge are ketchup and maple syrup. They are usually fine when left out. Also, at the rate we use butter, a whole pound would be gone before it had a chance to get rancid. But in the U.S. it comes in quarter-pound sticks instead of full pound blocks, so we keep the sticks not in use in the fridge.

I don’t eat ketchup or maple syrup… And I keep all the butter except a little piece in the fridge as it spoils easily and we eat it super slowly.

Btw butter, I used it as a snack once. 100g, the small brick in the shops here.
